AROTC Branch abbreviations from Branch of Choice PDF

Someone posted this PDF regarding Army ROTC branch selection in another thread. http://www.career-satisfaction.army.mil/pdfs/ROTC_BRADSO_Briefing_slides.pdf Is there a list somewhere of the branch abbreviations as listed on page #5? I can guess AV = Aviation, IN = Infantry, but some of the...

Joining the National Guard before ROTC?

Just one other thing to consider; don't underestimate the possibility of injuries during basic and / or AIT. Getting hurt, or some other incident which causes you to get held-over, could mess up your schedule and college start date.

Very well said. And exactly right. As a matter of fact, it is rarely as I think it should be. That's so that I am reminded as to who is really in control :thumb:

Sheesh. All the time and effort I put into may last post, and then I see this one. Your one sentance summarized my thought precisely. I'll go sit in the corner now and be quiet.

I fully understand where you are coming from. I also fully understand everyone making their own way and choices that are best for them. Most of my life has been spent following the less travelled path, and me and my family are, by far, the better for it. I just felt that the "bird in the hand...

    March 8th, 2011 AROTC Board

Been thinking about this one overnight. My tendancy would be to think you are both crazy too . Is the first choice school really that much better that you would turn down a full merit scholarship, a sure thing, to the second choice school? A full merit scholarship plus a chance to...

Ways to lose an Army ROTC scholarship?

You mean we should worry that a broken arm or some other injury at the wrong time could cause him to lose his scholarship?

Ways to lose an Army ROTC scholarship?

My son was offered and accepted a 3 year ROTC scholarship from the January board. I was surpised upon reading the conditions that only (1) a change in medical status, and/or (2) an arrest or traffic violation with a fine of $250.00 or greater could cause the scholarship to be revoked. Am I...

    Army ROTC majors

I dont mean to revive an outdated thread, but I could use some help on this very same topic. I am having trouble locating either of these documents online. Can someone please provide me with a link or point me in the right direction? I can find the CC pamphlet but not the appendix.

Is this automatic or do we need to initiate the transfer request prior?

Does anyone know the process for this? And what factors affect the likelihood of it taking place? Is there a chance of losing the scholarship if you attempt the transfer and that doesnt work out? NMS*17, have you found out anything?

The scholarship status page has been changed from "You may check your DoDMERB status" to "You have been offered a scholarship to -" for my son indicating he has been awarded a scholarship to his #2 choice school. Anyone who hasnt heard from an ROO may want to check the status page.

    January 4, 2011 AROTC Board

The earliest admissions deadline for my son's alternate choices is May 1st. Others here can give you much better advice than I am able, but once I found out what school the offer was for, and if my son wanted to go there, I would be on the phone the same day to his prospective ROTC cadre and...

I dont think your situation is so unique. We also focused on son's first choice school and will be making a mad scramble if the scholarship offer is for one of his other choices. His other choices are also some distance away (7 hours or more) so once the letter is in our hands we could be making...

    January 4, 2011 AROTC Board

Thanks. The odd part is I had kept this all from my son about results being posted until I met him after school today. I told him that I had been checking regularly and it didnt look good for his chances with the Janaury board etc. Then when we got home I was happy to have to eat those words...

    January 4, 2011 AROTC Board

Thanks. As much as anything I just wanted to re-affirm to everyone that they must still be making entries. As is obvious by my posts about lunchtime today, I was very frustrated and feeling that there was not much chance. I know some here speculated that the entries were being made...
