As of now, only one son has received a number. Waited on hold forever trying to reach the Academy by phone to see if there's a glitch or twin won't be issued a candidate number?

    Any suggestions?

The only thing I can suggest is to contact CGO. You might ask your BGO to look into it but he/she will probably end up doing the same thing you'd do.

    Holy Smokes!
Letter from CGO came today suggesting he submit SAT/ACT scores.

However, ACT should have been forwarded back in April when they took it and no candidate # on letter. There was no method to contact this CGO on the letter.

my other son received Candidate # 2 months ago

It's hard for me to comment on your individual situation without knowing all of the facts. Here's my best shot:

It's hard (not impossible) for a non-NASS attendee to get a candidate number without USNA seeing their ACT/SAT scores. If a candidate selected USNA automatically to receive scores, USNA should have them. Absent that, a candidate must affirmatively submit them.

As a general rule (to which there are exceptions), USNA looks for certain level of scores before making someone an official candidate. I don't know what that number is and USNA doesn't "publicize" it, even to BGOs. As noted, there are exceptions to this. Check with your BGO or RD for further information.

Call Admissions. They were very helpful whenever we had a problem. Don't know why you were on hold so long but we never had a problem contacting them.

The curious thing is, one son got his candidate number in late May after being turned down for NASS, his twin just received this letter today from a CGO. I'm not certain when the ACT scores were auto-forwarded but, son 1 received his number likely before the ACT scores came in.

    Moving on

Well, despite an offer of help via this forum, we've heard nothing from the Academy or any of it's reps, BGO, CGO, etc.

We're going to move on and visit Columbia, Princeton, Fordham maybe Harvard and ND.

One may need a baseball "hook" and the other will likely be a candidate on academics alone, who knows?

Moving on will definitely send a message to the USNA.

No "message" intended, just some disappointment and surprise. The world won't end and the Academy will do well, as they always have.
This forum and most of the users have been fun and educational.
