    Good afternoon, DEVs.

I was wondering if there was a reason for the 100 PMs limit for an account, and if it could be raised.

    Thank you very much.

    Sincerely,

    BillSL

I would assume it is an issue with storage space associated with this site. Part of the cost of running such sites is the amount of space that has to be allocated.

If you have older messages you want to retain, you can do a copy/paste to something like Word for future reference.

Haha, that's a good idea... hadn't thought of it.

I was wondering the point of the limit because I know of another forum that uses the same system (vBulletin) but has a 500 PM limit.

    Thanks!

Yep, it's all about storage/operating costs. The best work-around is the one mentioned, plus it makes it much easier to reference in the future!

The above posts are correct. This is mostly implemented in order to save storage space and the associated costs. We have considered subscriptions which would, among many other things, enable the storage of more PMs. This would allow us to offset costs while ensuring we provide an improved experience to the user. At this time, however, we have not utilized those.

I will look at what can be done to alleviate this issue and see if a solution exists that would be feasible.

Thank you again for your feedback.

If you want to save your message to reread later you can save them in your email

When you select messages to delete, their is also a place to save them in html. It can get a little messed up as far as formatting, but the messages themselves are in tact and readable.

I personally think that 100 PMs is fine...

I know, it just is easier to have them all there. And there are some people I talk to a lot on here.

100 is plenty. If there someone you want to chat with more extensively, trade emails or phone #'s in one of your pvt messages. That works fine for me. Rather have a set limit then have to pay to participate.
