Well, we got a short email from our ds. The crew, ship and food are fine. Phew. They don't have their ship email account yet, but he found WIFI to send an email. Don't know if the WIFI is on ship or in port (which I hear there is), but it was good to have a short communication with him. They are in port till the 30th, then hit more Japanese ports in 7 days, and head to the west coast. Amazing, this was the longest email we've gotten from him since he went to KP in July 09.:smile:
 
Glad you heard from him! Ours ships out this week - he's just waiting for the exact date and the port where he's joining the ship.
 
KP2013dramamama~We will be (hopefully/tentatively) seeing our DS in LA around August 8th. If your son is around we will take him out to eat too. Let me know.
 
Still not a word from our DS who we last heard from on July 6th when they were in port in Norfolk. :confused: I've resigned myself to waiting until the 28th at the earliest when they should be back to a US port.
 
DBLOmom; that's really sweet of you to offer! I'll let you know when we find out what port on the West Coast he comes in. Is there a major port from which most ships leave and return?
 
Please send us a pm if they are pulling into Naha, Okinawa (Japan). We will make sure they get a chance to make a long phone call home.
 
yes DS is in Atlantic- Houston to Northern Europe route & they do a few ports up the SE US coast so he passes close to home one every 35-40 days. Not as exotic as far east but lots of experience getting in & out of ports. Great for a deckie.
