I've seen several posts where people have been asked to send in their 1st semester grades. So far my DD has not. Would it still be a good idea to send them in since she has all A's and is taking 8 classes instead of the usual 6 that seniors take, and since she is in lots of AP's and has Calc and Physics which I would think would look good to the Adcom members as they make their decisions.

Why not? If she hasn't received a TWE add to her profile every chance you get.

I sent mine, and my USNA Admissions Director emailed me back with a simple "this is not needed". So, it may not be needed, but it definitely doesn't hurt! :)

It definitely cannot hurt, but I think it is kind of late, at this point. It probably takes a good 2-3 weeks for a transcript to get read/inputted from the time the H.S. starts preparing to when it arrives in the Admissions office and made part of the file. I would think that most scholastic qualification decisions will have been made by that time -- in other words, it is really about matching candidates to slates and picking from the pool.

My DS is at NAPS. There are quite a few there that had their appointments for USNA changed to NAPS very late in the game. In my opinion it was due to the primary nom issue last year and obviously they found something in the candidates file to justify the change. I don't want to put a damper on any one's appointment, but if it were me I would keep my file as strong as possible and send those grades in especially if they improve your package.

PS...I'd like to think that was unique to last year but maybe not.

While I don't think it would hurt anything if you send them I also don't think it will help if they didn't ask for them. My dd asked her rd if she should send them and he said their was nothing in her files indicating admissions was requesting them so it wasn't necessary. At the time I didn't know if that was a good sign or bad sign. But she rcvd an appointment about 3wks later. I have come to the conclusion that if admissions is concerned about a performance in a particular class they wull request the 7th semester grades otherwise they dont need or necc want them.
