I just got a nom from my senator (CT) and am planning on interviewing for another one from my Congressman in late November. First, would they already know that I had received a Senator's nom? And second, would knowing that I already have a nom put me lower on the Congressman's list of people? Am I at a disadvantage of having a nom befire I interview with the Congressman?

    Yes. And possibly.

Some states coordinate very carefully to ensure that each candidate receives only one nomination per Academy. I'm told one state is even now going to one nomination to ALL academies. I've not verified that yet.

Still others allow for multiple noms to multiple SAs.

    What state are you in?

CT. I know that in our state, if you receive a nom for USNA from one senator, then the next senator automatically considers you for your number 2 choice.

We are from one of the very competitive states and we were told that nominations would not be duplicated. DS had LoA so he knew he only needed one nomination. DS received phone call from Congressman stating that he had been planning on giving him the nomination but that he had heard from Senator 1 that he would be nominating him, so the Congressman deferred to Senator 1. How surprised DS was when one week later in the mail he received a second nomination from Senator 2. This was also the same year that a couple of LoA holders from our state did not get in because they received no nominations (which was basically unheard of). It was really too bad that Senator 2 didn't coordinate with the other two MOCs. Hopefully they've changed things since then.

We had a similar scenario with a rogue senator. Thankfully the populace set him straight ... out of office.

Regardless, unless you have a LOA in hand you should pursue all three with equal vigor.

From my experience in CT if you receive a nomination after the first Senator's interview (which alternates each year) the second Senator "requests" that you withdraw your application. In Connecticut Senate offices do coordinate their nominations.

Here in Connecticut Representative nominations are independent of the Senate nomination and that is why you can receive two Congressional nominations from this state. Or you can not receive a Senate nomination from either Senator but still get a nomination from your Representative. Don't think Senators and Representatives share their lists here.

    Example:

One Senate Nomination to first choice. Second Senate asked to withdraw request. Representative nomination to first choice.

No Senate nomination from either for SAs Representative nomination to all SA's.

I recieved a Nom from Blumenthal and I called Lieberman to ask about interview times and they said that I would not interview because they knew that I already had a Senatorial Nom. But we are still eligible to recieve a Nom from the MOC's.

Good Luck to all CT nominees:thumb:. Second and third choice I don't know how they handle it. Pursue your Representative Nomination
