    Objee,

Does the admissions board convert SAT and ACT scores to powerscore for the best result. My son is scoring much higher on the ACT English than on the SAT English. Will they convert his ACT into an SAT score to make it a better score?

Also, we want to apply EA in August. However, the last SAT we will be taking will be in October. What makes a better impression to the board about how serious we are about the USCGA. Submitting everything in August with first result test scores, or wait until late October when we will have the last set of test scores to be added to the transcript? I'm thinking we will submit everything in August and just do an "update" when we receive our test scores in October. In your opinion, is this the best line of thought?

Okay, I lied! I have two more question. Do you know what the averages are for SAT/ACT for kids accepted into EA. How much of an advantage do AIM kids have over non-AIM kids, and what is the CG looking for in a cadet while at AIM specifically? I have officially talked your ear right off. Thank you for your response and taking the time. -officer

Not Objee, but your questions can be answered by searching this forum.

Yes, ACT scores are converted to SAT scores, and all are "superscored" so that the highest score from each test will be counted.

You cannot apply in August, as the application is usually not available until mid-September. As long as your completed application is submitted before November 1st, you will qualify for an Early Action decision.

However, you can designate the USCGA as a recipient of your SAT scores/ACT scores using their codes (5807 = SAT code, 0600 = ACT code) from any of your earlier tests.

    EA Appointment stats

    235 EA Appointments

Average EA appointee SAT scores (includes converted ACT scores) = 640 CR / 660 M

Average EA appointee PFE score = 210

    Okay,

Thanks Luigi. I thought the CG website said they would have the applications available in late August. Also, I wasn't sure if being one of the first candidates to send our application for evaluation would reflect how serious we are about the CG. -officer

It says that every year. Maybe this year they will surprise us, but don't count on it.

As long as you get it in before the 11/1 deadline you will be fine.

However, being "early" will help you get scheduled for the DODMERB exam, as those exam letters don't go out until you have submitted most of your application.

i would say go ahead and submit the current SAT score when you turn in your application and then send in an updated score when you get it
