Interesting smattering of equipment there. I wonder if they let them do BRM with their optics on. If they did, THE CORPS HAS!!!!

Glad they're done. Rucking is never fun.

Just got back from a wonderful day in West Point! It was an amazing event to watch, and was lucky enough to grab some fabulous pictures of our daughter.

Nice photos! Some of the captions were a little off but that's okay.
Great shot of the march through the golf course, loved the foot check and the "Old Grads" are truly inspirational.

Livinlarger - where were you that you got photos of your d?

I'd also tip my hat to the 1st detail cadre who came back from leave to escort old grads during the marchback. Especially those who weren't pre-designated and only found out they were on the hook after they returned from chilling out (I know what that's like!)

Congrats to all you parents on your child's achievement. To put it bluntly, this is what makes USMA the best, and instills the pride of achievement in your new plebes. At some *other* schools they march three miles to a valley, or play grunt for a week. Your kid has done it day in and day out since the end of June. They've marched more in the last 72 hours under more weight than any of their classmates at other schools have all summer. And that was after the days of challenges and patrolling in the field. You have so very much to be proud of, so don't be afraid to celebrate a bit :thumb: Brag a bit around the water cooler!

In a few short days your kids will join the Long Gray Line. On behalf of a class ten years their senior, we welcome them and share your pride in their accomplishments!

We were able to get onto the sidewalk between the barracks and the Plain (after they all sat down) before the MPs moved everyone along. The telephoto on the camera came in very handy!!!

Oh Yes!!! the telephoto was handy!
Did any New Cadets spot their Mom and come running over for a hug??

Did you stay until they all went with their Companies?
    That was a little bittersweet.

Hahaha...the storm that would ensue if a new cadet broke ranks and ran to a parent would be ungodly. I hate doubt any of them was so utterly foolish.

I should certainly hope so. Isn't this what you guys do for a living? And AFA, of course, had to steal someone else's tradition since they had none of their own, and there is not a lot of places to go sailing in Coloradao Springs. (insert smiley face here)

It happened two years ago and was hilarious! Everyone laughed, he (of course) got smoked. It was his Mom's birthday and amazing that he could pick her out. All the Officers were very impressed.

I have heard it happened in other years but didn't know if it happened every year.

We were also given a heads up and brought binoculars!!! The only thing we did see was one NC was allowed to talk to his father but he could only talk for as long as he could do pushups. He gave a valiant effort and everything he had for those few precious seconds!!!!

Here's a link to my photos.

Someone was asking about a NC breaking out and hugging parents.....it did indeed happen while they were eating lunch. I witnessed it in disbelief! A NC said "What the hell" and ran over and gave his parents a hug....was quickly brought back to his company. Was wondering what repercussions that incident produced? Had to be quite severe as what is going to discourage future cadets from breaking ranks.

Hopefully so. That's piss-poor discipline and very childish. I guess I'm an old crank. Parents weren't anywhere near us in my day. They kept us in North Area and then put us down in the basements.

Breaking rank happened last year too.
Cadre in one of the companies allowed this in exchange for some push-ups.
