2019 Permit to Report (PTR) Packages?

We went for a long walk, had a nice casual breakfast, shower, etc. and then headed back to USNA to go to the Alumni Association picnic on Hospital Point, Parents brief in Alumni, etc. However, we saw many parents behind Alumni taking photos of the Plebes with their heavy bags of gear jumping on busses or at Bancroft (by the mid-store) getting dropped off with their gear before heading into Bancroft.

Guess we got lucky with a very civil 9:30 report time. From what I've read, though, those with an earlier time will suffer less stress than those who report later in the morning and have to be squared away by a certain time. Wondering whether there is any benefit to arriving earlier than designated time? We know a coach who says arriving on time is actually late. Or is getting there early a no-no? Don't want to get started on the wrong foot.

I just started another thread about reporting on I-Day. I want to know that and other things too.

kayaker...one thing that I have learned being a military wife and now an instructor in the Sea Cadets....a saying worth passing on now to all newly appointed Plebes....."early is on time, on time is late and late is unacceptable" wise words to live by not only in the Military but life in general

kayaker...exactly right, it is a catch-22...it might be "nicer" to report later (0900 vs. 0600) since you don't have to wake up as early, get to depart from family later, etc. but it does mean less time for DS/DD to put a lot of things away. Planning to be "on station" at least 30 minutes (accounting for breakfast, parking, shuttles, etc.) prior to the report time is probably a really good idea....if you arrive early, you can separate a little aways from Alumni Hall to not get sucked in to the vacuum, or if your DS/DD and family are ready to being the journey early and USNA is willing to usher him/her in, that is perfectly fine.

Anyone out West get their PTR packet yet? I'm in Utah and have been stalking the mail forever now.

Is anyone able to access the link from the portal that says Review document Future Midshipmen? I know people were having trouble with this link earlier but we are still unable to access it. All we get is an error message when we click on it.
And where on the portal will it say that the PTR has been mailed? My DS' portal looks exactly as it used to, except at the top it indicates Application status, required actions and special instructions.

Is your DS a late / recent appointee? At first my DSs page had one small mention of the appointment right near the blue and gold interview portion of the portal. It then changed considerably about a week or so later. Hope this helps.

Is anyone late sending in your PTR forms. I didn't realize that they had a suspense date. I foolishly skipped the checklist sheet with the due dates. Do you think I'll have any trouble sending them in late?

I think you'll be fine as long as you send them in as soon as you can. If you haven't already taken care of the immunization/TB test form, you'll need to schedule to do that on a date when you can return yo the clinic between 48 & 72 hours to have the TB Skin test read. (By the way, the TB Test is recorded on the yellow form with the immunization record. Don't waste time looking for a separate form.

Most of the forms are easy to complete. Some just require signatures. The on-line ABS takes a little time because you'll need to take some math tests after completing the survey. There's a letter in the packet that tells you the website and how to log in.

You can PM me if you have questions in order to save time figuring it all out.

Never mind about the private message. You won't be able to do that yet since you're new. You'll just have to post on the forum.

Good luck with it. You could save the Alumni Association and Foundation paperwork for last. It's not due until June according to the information on their website.

One of the first lessons of military life: the devil is in the details.
