2020 Appointments

DD got official certificate of appointment two days ago.

Here's the timeline of progress in case it helps anyone:
LOA Sept. 4 (CFA and DoDMERB completed and passed over summer)
Senator 1 interview Nov. 13
Congressman interview Nov. 14
Notification of Nom from Senator 1 Nov. 23 (cancellation of Senator 2 interview; uber-competitive state w/no chance of double nom)
Portal update to Appointment Nov. 30 (portal credits her Nom to Senator 1)
BFE with certificate received Dec. 11

Plans B through G still moving forward. USNA is by far the front-runner and top choice, but we are encouraging DD not to commit until she sees all of her options.

Thank you all for the information over the months/years. We lurked a lot, finally signed on and starting asking questions, and perhaps at some point can be a source of encouragement and info ourselves one day!

Congratulations. Well done.

TX-07 nomination received. Cruz and Cornyn offices are sending letters out later than expected, but I was told by the Cornyn office I will know by Christmas. (I'm optimistic that I will hear back this week) Good luck to all you Texans.

How long did it take your BWE to arrive? DS received his appointment Dec. 2 and STILL no BWE in the mail. Is the USPS usually this slow?
I received my appointment Dec 2 as well. I received my BWE Dec 11th, but that was probably because I live in Maryland. I'm sure it's on the way!

Remember the just because you were notified by a MOC of a Nom doesn't mean they have submitted that slate to USNA. Make sure to keep an eye on your portal being updated as that shows the slate has been submitted. Also sometimes BFEs come quick and other times slower. Just depends on the speed of admissions.

And if your portal updated on the 2nd with a Nom just be patient. Sometimes they can take 2-3 weeks to show up.

Congratulations to those who have already received appointments. When receiving an LOA, do you get a call first? If so, who calls? Or do you just get a letter in the mail with no call?

My son received an email LOA from the AFA a week ago Friday. No call. No letter in the mail. We live in CO. He got a call from one of the MOC he interviewed with last week asking if the AF was still his first choice. Wouldn't be surprised if he gets the nom call this week!

Heard from Texas Senator's office tonight and I received a nomination. (double nom from congressman and senator) Good luck to everyone.
What district are you in? I thought I had heard that in Texas they don't double nominate. Did you receive a phone call?

DS got an email from Congressman Burgess in Texas last week with a nomination for USNA and USMA. They said that they will not send in their slates to the academies until Dec. 18 so it won't show up in his portal for awhile. Waiting and hoping for an appointment now.

DS has an LOA and has interviewed with Feinstein (CA) and MOC this week. I can't believe all the steps are finally complete after almost a year ( from applying to NASS) It feels surreal. Now the waiting truly begins. We are trying to enjoy and live in the moment. :)
