Doing the happy dance here in our house! DS is medically qualified today per the DODMERB website. His LOE letter stated that he was qualified both academically and physically already, so I think that means 3Q to me!

He has a Pres Nom, so fingers are crossed for an early appointment. Any idea how early those can start going out? We know he will still do his MOC interviews so he has as many noms as possible, but it sure would be nice to know early and relieve all the pressure! :thumb:

3Q'd….

Congrats!! Even though, rolling admissions process has been discontinued, the admin board meets every tuesday. They may be meeting now or may start very soon. Still continue trying to get a nom from your MOC.

Stay in his back pocket and nag him to keep up on his grades (chem is a Plebe killer and Physics is a Yuk killer) and monitor his and his friends activities. I know he is a good kid, but one slip could cause him to lose everything. Keep him away from underage drinking.

Now starts the most difficult part. The waiting of the BFE!!

Push Hard, Press Forward

Early appointment would be in the January time frame, and those generally go to LOAs, P-noms and clear vacancy winners.
The majority of appointments go out in Feb-March.

The deadlines for MOCs to turn in their slates is Jan 31. Some turn in sooner. Some wait until the deadline. Until your DS's MOCs have their slates in, WP can't determine the vacancy winners and then may even have to wait until a candidate(s) on the slate completes their file to determine that.
Even with a Presidential, WP will wait to see what other noms your DS gets.

Patience. :thumb:

How long from when you took your medical to when it posted you were qualified? Thanks!

Tug, back pocket plan is in progress! Actually, we are blessed with a great DS who makes great choices and takes his grades very seriously. Slacking off any time before graduation just isn't an option in his mind. He's already had to make choices about drugs and kept out of those sorts of situations. All of his close friends are driven academically and stay out of trouble. But still keeping an eye on things!

Buff, thanks for the possibilities for early appointment. Nothing ever seems to work out the "easy" way in our family, so I am prepared to not hear anything until April. But knowing the earliest we can start wishing is just a date I like to know. DS knows that nothing has changed, and that he is still doing his MOC interviews in November and December.

Craig, the timeline on the medical went very quickly, after they corrected the initial problem that DodMets wasn't getting any names uploaded from USMA due to some sort of upload issue. The timeline was that his name came up to schedule the appointments on Friday the 12th. We were able to schedule the eye and doctor appointments for Saturday the 20th and ear for the following Wednesday the 24th. (We called to confirm it was okay that the audiology appointment was last and they said it was okay) All the doctor offices uploaded the same day or the next business day. DodMets got everything over to DODMERB on the 29th. The brief concern was when I peeked at his status Wednesday (the 1st) to see that it had been reviewed and marked remedial. No codes, no notes. So I checked again yesterday hoping that it would have more information so I could start rounding up medical info and it had been reviewed a second time and updated to qualified! Today the change was reflected on his USMA portal, which makes it more official. So we had a review of the files and an answer exactly one week after the last doctor appointment. Much quicker than we anticipated!
