My son just received a 4-year scholarship and the award letter stated an academic discipline (Physical Science/Analyt). What does this mean?

That means that he has a Academic Discipline Mix 3 - Physical Science/Analytical. There is a long list of majors that fall into that category. Go to http://rotc.unlv.edu/Cadet Forms/High School Scholarship Application.pdf and the list starts on page 17. I also sent you a PM.

Thank you! Is it possible to change to a different academic discipline mix?

It is my understanding that historically switching majors had not been a problem. You notified your PMS, completed the paperwork and that was that. However, someone recently posted "Switching Academic Discipline Mix (ADM) Category http://www.uccs.edu/~armyrotc/docs/ADM List.doc from a higher number to a lower number will be a problem starting with this year's scholarship awardees (YG16)" I don't know if that is true or not.
