DH and I were looking through a small canvas bag with drawstring from his family. He pulled out an old, fragile copy of 1942 "Bugle Notes" from West Point that had been his uncles. His uncle graduated in 1945 (yes, due to the WWII, they accelerated the cadets). Unfortunately, his uncle was shot down over N Korea flying an F86 during the Korean War. His remains and belongings were not returned to the family until the 1980s. The small bag of memorabilia, medals, pilot wings, etc. from his uncle and father have been passed down through the years to DH. We will pass them to our DD and DSIL (both USAFA grads) at some point.

Wow, that is great that you found that! My dh’s grandfather graduated in June 1943. We have his diploma but not his Bugle Notes. That is a great legacy for your family and a good remembrance of his uncle’s sacrifice.
