Before I begin, I would like to say I hope all fellow appointees are enjoying the short time left before basic with their family and friends. As much as I am trying to enjoy my time, while prepping myself for BCT, I can't help but to feel pretty stressed about this 8th semester transcript. I want to make it clear that I am still trying my best to do well in school, but it just feels like this is the hardest part of the year. With AP exams approaching, my classes are harder than they have ever been. I still have about a month and a half left of school plus finals, so it feels like I have a lot of school left and I do not want to rush this time away because of my stress. My grades were never phenomenal throughout high school, I always maintained a high B average, and through the first 3 quarters of senior year my grades have been pretty consistent. If classes such as AP Biology, AP Literature, or C++ (those seem to be the most challenging this part of the year) were to drop a bit, how likely is it my appointment gets rescinded? I am not looking to get by with the bare minimum, I just want a piece of mind to relieve some stress. Also- I don't know if this is a factor with grades or not, but I have the principal nomination. My high school isn't used to sending out 8th semester grades to colleges (guidance told me they do only a handful every year) and since I-day is actually before my graduation I have to make a special request for my transcript to be sent early. My biggest fear is that I somehow get turned away at the last minute because of a low grade in AP bio or something. I guess I am just looking to be more educated on the whole eighth semester transcript thing, thanks in advance for any information!

Goodluck to all other appointees also on that home stretch of senior year!

    Hey, Future,
Just wanted to let you know I am in the same boat! I have always had good grades, but now am looking at the possibility of my first ever C in AP Calc. I'm fighting like crazy just to get a B, but when you spend 2 hours on a quiz and STILL fail it...it looks pretty discouraging.
So I would ask kind of the same question of the experienced forum members here. Would a C in an AP class cause admissions to reconsider my appointment?
Hang in there FutureCadet85! And best of luck!

Haha, Goodluck to you too. AP Bio and C++ have been killing me all year and I have had a high C + in both those classes since the beginning of the year, but now since it is the home stretch it is freaking me out! I am really not the type to stress over grades either so it's weird that my stress is coming at the end of senior year when all my other classmates don't care a bit. I wouldn't call what I have senioritis, but there is certainly a lot going on in these last few months of school...I am just trying to pull through! Goodluck to you again!

You are fine. Don't get any Ds or Fs. Straight Cs might an eyebrow. Do the best you can, finish strong.

Take the hint now: GET EXTRA INSTRUCTION. It will hold you in good stead come the first Thursday in August.

Ds and Fs aren't too good, but a C wouldn't hurt you at all. I mean, obviously try to get As, but no worries if you do end up getting Cs!

Take it this way fear that C! It'll push you harder. I'm of the mind set if you relax on the C you'll get an even worse grade. Kind of like when we tell people to shoot for the max score on the CFA and not the averages. But that's just me as a parent constantly nagging ;)

I completely agree with you! I am fighting like crazy to avoid a C! The past two weeks have pretty much been Calc 24/7 with very little sleep. It's not fun, but hopefully it'll worth it in the end!

    Bailey,

You have nothing to worry about with a C. You should do your best, of course, but don't be concerned about your appointment.

Great advice from the insider. Study and improve for yourself, not for the grade. The better you prepare yourself, the more prepared you will be for the academy. Learn for the sake of learning, not for a grade. Your bed is already made at this point. Just don't be stupid. Have fun , enjoy your family and friends, and stay out of trouble. Congratulations to all 2019 appointees.

Thank you, Insider! I will definitely continue to give 100% effort to finish strong just because I know it's important to know this material. After hours of studying I got an A on my last test, so hopefully I should be able to maintain a B.

I would still strive NOT to earn a C, Bailey.

I agree with you. Trust me, the last 2 weeks have been pretty much just Calculus! I've been doing schoolwork from 7 am to 10 pm lately, even on weekends. Calculus does not come easily to me, so I really have to put in a lot of work to do well. It's definitely taught me a lot about how to apply myself 100% to my schoolwork. Trying to finish strong! Also, Calc will be the only B I ever got in high school. My parents are on the whole "I told you should have taken an easier math class" thing, but ah well. Live and learn, I suppose.

I have posted this many times before over the years, but for those of you interested, here is the schedule of my boys, their last semester senior year.

they were enrolled in 16 college credits at two local Universities, each semester junior and senior years (I didn't have facilities for upper level physics/chemistry here at home)
They had 4 regular high school courses, which they completed Virtually
they both had part time jobs: 5-7:30 am EVERY morning, walked a 2 mi paper route, seven days a week, then on weekends, washed dishes at the local restaurant from 6 pm - midnight (when there was not a fencing tournament, sometimes when there was)
Fencing: four nights a week from 7-10 pm, Saturdays from 8 - noon. Tournaments, some with travel, every other weekend from Sept -June. July is the month of the National Championships.

I can't remember all of it now. Let's just say: they were very busy
    Then all the incidental ECs.

    It was crazy nuts here.

I know each situation is different, but will USAFA be concerned if I pull straight B's this semester. I am a college student with a very hefty course load and don't expect anything less than a B, but with most finals over it is looking like a B is a possibility in every class. Do you think they will reconsider the appointment?

Do not concern yourself with all Bs. You will be lucky to earn all Bs at USAFA.

Make sure they get your semester end grade report (if requested).

Will a few Bs or Cs tank your appointment. Surely not.

Will a lack of comprehending the material in a class like Calculus (if that's the poor grade) hurt you at USAFA as a freshman? Most certainly it will. Calculus and Chemistry are the leading causes of academic probation, retaken courses, and academic troubles. Even if you can't get your grade up, REALLY take the time to master the material as best as you can or risk the wrath of the Math Dept.

    Just my 2 cents.
