Does being authorized to retake the cfa indicate the you have a strong file to get appointed?

I doubt that a RC would recommend a retake unless your file was competitive.
I wouldn't read 'Appointment' into it, but obviously your RC thinks enough of your file to offer you a 2nd chance on the CFA.
Work hard and kill the CFA this time!!
    Good luck :thumb:

Yea, appointment sounds a little optimistic, but I couldnt think of another word. I only need help in the basketball throw, i missed it by 3 ft.

Throwing a basketball while kneeling is awkward and is not something that an athlete normally does. There has been many a discussion on this forum about how to maximize your results on the basketball throw. Do a search and you will get a lot of advise that will hopefully help you reach the average throw and maybe even the max! It is something that you can practice at home - so practice, practice, practice! Don't let a basketball throw keep you from getting an appointment.

This is completely true. I went to SLS last summer, thinking I could throw a basketball while on my knees with no problems (I have played for the last 11 years). It was completely different than I expected. I passed, but it wasn't pretty. Practice as much as you can!
