What a wonderful experience. Our DS traveled up last week for the EA on Ice. The weather made his travel from Florida an adventure. But his time at the Academy awesome. We would highly recommend the visit to all prospective cadets invited.

It was a great opportunity for him to walk in the boots of a cadet. Meet with the coaches; talk to cadets and ask questions based upon observation of daily routine.

In a text to us after his first day, he wrote "... the cadets are tight and competitive. Never before have I seen a group of students that so avidly challenges both themselves and those around them while still having fun about it and still being kids / idiot college students. Yet when the time calls for action they can be on task on hand and at perfection. ...this is what I need in my life to go from HS student to being the man I need to be."

Maybe it should be renamed "Awesome Experience".

My DS went up the week before into a snow storm but got to hang out (no classes)--- being from Florida I thought that cold weather might deter him, but he sent his acceptance papers in on Monday after he got back!

I will happily steal this quote, copyright it, and use it in future presentations.

Just looking at that text, it seems that your son is a great writer.

...this is what I need in my life to go from HS student to being the man I need to be."

This line gave me goosebumps. When I read this I thought of the first line of DS's first essay response, "...I've always wanted to do something extraordinary with my life and I know that attending the Academy will be my way to begin that extraordinary life".:thumb:

    Thanks for sharing bigg8tr.

Reading your son's text really made me feel proud of the Corps here at the Academy. I am truly glad he enjoyed the experience and look forward to seeing him here at the Academy. We always like it when the Beansprouts enjoy their visits. What he said his true, we are training to be leaders and we constantly push our classmates and ourselves, but we have fun while doing it! I wish your son a very successful senior year, I am glad that the crazy weather here has not deterred him.
