Why do you believe you need his sponsor family's information to surprise him for Acceptance Day? Many cadets don't know their sponsor family until after A-day and the start of the academic year. The only people who can provide you with his sponsor information is your boyfriend or your boyfriend's parents. Good luck!

If you search back to the second page of threads there is one regarding Acceptance Day and finding cadets that day, with a wealth of information. Good luck! I'm going to Acceptance day also, but my DS knows I'm coming!

Just an FYI. They can scatter from the field very quickly to the spots their squadrons pick for the bars. This happens immediately after the parade is over. Keep your eye on his squadron flag and follow that to find him.

    Phase 2,

If like last year parking will be by field house (Clune) or in the lower parking lot below Stillman Field that is used by Cadets the rest of the year ( Cadet cars will have been relocated). As usual look for signs, or just follow crowd (line of cars coming in N Gate)... As suggested...don't be late and don't lug a bunch of stuff to stands. SF will be out screening folks and it just takes too much time!
Enjoy and I am headed out Saturday to get ready for A day for my Sponsor basics ...hopefully all will get their 'Boards'!

Oops! I do keep ham handing the military descriptors. I don't know why I want to call them bars.....maybe because I felt the need as a parent to visit the bar for a big glass of wine after such an emotional day ;)

    Better description would be "Clouds"

So I have to ask, why a cloud type thing on the boards? Do you know the history for this? Are they on cloud nine for making it through BCT?

I've been calling them "bars" to all our friends and family I tell about A-day. Fortunately they have no idea that I have no idea what I'm even talking about.

I have found that even when I do know what I'm talking about, friends and family still don't have a clue most of the time. It's surprising how many citizens of our country do not know a thing about SA's. You should check out the thread "Your son/daughter goes where?" I think it's on page 3. Funny stuff.

Nobody seems to ever know what I'm talking about with this USAFA stuff. I'm not sure I should be the one to "educate" them about it either. I love that thread "Your son/daughter goes where"! I've heard a bunch of them already.

Call them "shoulder boards." That's the official name, as well as the name the basics/doolies will use.

The squiggle on the boards is called clouds. As a c3c a thin line is added under the clouds called ground. As a c2c a line is added over called horizon. All 3 together is called a full sky. doolies get clouds cause thats where there head is :). As they progress they become more grounded and eventually get something resembling the full picture.

Just watched a video which included the first year (and then skips to firstie year) of life at USAFA. Acceptance Day - lots of tears (with many more to come). Wish I could have been there!
