Our DS's grandfather (USAF Retired) is going to attend "A" Day. He has some issue with mobility and it would be beneficial to have a wheelchair. Does anyone know if there are places to rent or borrow one for Acceptance Day. And will I be able to drive to the parking lot by the Chapel to let them out of the car before I park?

There are no places on campus to rent or borrow a wheelchair. You will have to rent one from a medical supply store in Colorado Springs.

Yes, you can drive up near the chapel and let him out. However, Acceptance will take place on the parade field which is not at all by the chapel. However, there is a parking lot by the parade field. However, access to it is restricted as most parents have to park by the field house and walk up to the parade field which is a pretty good uphill trek. Maybe the lot by the parade field is reserved for handicap access. You would need to find out. I am sure they would let you drive up there, unload the wheelchair, and go park the care down by the field house if required.

Also, I can't remember if shuttle buses were running for Acceptance Day. I know they are for Parent's Weekend and then the shuttles can be caught right by the field house and ridden to different destinations on campus.

Thanks. I did not realize it was on the parade field! I appreciate the heads up.

You might also check with the hotel. We were at Homewood Suites and needed a wheelchair for my mother. We couldn't rent one, since we were leaving Sunday, when the rental places weren't open. It turned out the hotel had a basic wheelchair we could use.

Park in Clune area

There were buses that would take you to the parade field stands from the Clune area, park in the Clune area (athletic house). There is a gate at that end as well that you can enter escorted by your cadet. If you do that be prepared to walk alot. They will only have a few hours ( more like 2) to spend with you and I believe everyone will be off the hill by 1300 hrs or so . This is based upon last year. Hope this helps. I would bring food he and his friends will enjoy that very much, chik filet etc;
