I have recently been accepted to the airforce prep school, does anyone know if it is possible to attent one academy's prep school and still gain an appointment to another upon completing airforce prep?

Yes; it is totally possible. In the prep-school, you are under no obligation at all. You are free to apply to as many of the academies as you want to. That's your choice. The only "Given" at going to a particular prep-school is that if you don't "Screw the Pooch". (Sorry, my terminology for getting in trouble, failing classes, doing something stupid, etc....); that you are pretty much guaranteed an appointment to the Air Force Academy. But you are totally free to apply to another military academy. Best of luck. Mike.....

You could go to another academy but the main difference is that to go on to the AF academy you wouldn't have to reapply, just get a nomination, and the commander of the P school recommends for you to get your appointment. If you plan to be an officer in another branch I would actually recommend not coming here so you don't steal a spot from someone else that wants to be an AF officer. Go to that service's ROTC program for a year and reapply as a civilian.

well put BlueSuiter, don't go there and take a spot from someone else that is dying to be in your position to go to AFA

Also, the reason for USAFAP is to prep you for USAFA not USMA, USNA, USCGA or USMMA

Are you are attending AF prep on AF grounds? or did you receive Falcon Foundation scholarship??
you already have your name on a space at AFA next year.. its yours to lose. All you need is a Nomination....

I was under the impression that you could not go to a different Academy if USAFA was sending you to a prep school.

I knew somebody that went to a prep school from the Naval Academy and tried to switch to Westpoint and ended up losing both.

Just make sure you check everything out before trying to switch Academies, you would not want to lose your spot.

the recommendation from your CO carries the most weight..let's say that you spend a year at af prep and try to go to USNA, you have to get a separate nomination to the academy and do the entire application process all over again..

the application process to get into your respective academy after prep is MUCH easier..you're pretty much guaranteed an appointment to your academy as long as you maintain the requirements at prep..

well maybe that person didn't get westpoint and ended up not getting the CO's recommendation to USNA due to mental reservation about the navy..
