Accepted!

DD just got a call from USCGA. She's in-- full appointment!

Congratulations! And I share in your excitement as my DD also got the call tonight. She has a conditional appointment pending clearance by DoDMERB, which we hope to wrap up in the next couple of weeks. Very exciting and how very sweet to get the news the night before Thanksgiving. We have much to be thankful for.

I can't thank the contributors to this board enough because we sure learned a lot here about the process of applying to USCGA. :thumb:

So far, the class is 100% female.

Congrats to both of your daughters.

R-Day is in 220 days.

I agree with the other posts. Congratulations! Something, I have always said to both my kids. " It is not about dreaming. It is about setting goals and objectives to achieve that goal, now that's hard work." Your DD's have worked very hard for this and are very deserving. Tell them thank you for their commitment, to serve the greatest country in the world. The United States of America.

Happy Thanksgiving

God Bless and God Speed,

RGK

Not true. One of my classmates younger brothers just got accepted too.

And remember, it's all about graduation, not admission, rates

How many accepted

Does anybody know how many EA I applications were received and how many will be accepted? Also how many are likely to be accepted for EA II and Regular admission?

There are about 500 applicants in EA1, but the number of applicants has no impact on the number of appointments tendered. During Early Action, EA1 and EA2 combined, we normally will not exceed 50% of the total number of full appointments we anticipate tendering for the entire class...which is probably around 285 for the Class of 2017.

Congratulations! Would you mind posting your application resumé(EA's, GPA, Test scores, PFE)?

Would an applicant with a technical major be more likely to be appointed than one with a non-technical major, such as government or management?

If everything else in the record was exactly the same, which never happens, then intended major could be the deciding factor; however, STEM majors don't always trump non-STEM majors.

If I applied to EAI and have still heard nothing, is there anything that could be inferred?

Yes...you can infer that your record is still under review.

It is a dumb question, yes. However, I wasn't sure if that would mean that it didn't look good because of the delay, or if it ment that it looked good because I wasn't automatically turned down. Thanks for your input.

It's entirely up to you if you think it's positive (they haven't rejected me) or negative (they haven't appointed me) to still be under review, but it really just means you should keep being patient and wait for a decision.

Is 285 the anticipated class size or does CGA plan on making around 285 offers to get to the desired class size?

Positivity, if you log in on the Bear's Den it will tell you at the bottom if your records have been reviewed yet.

235 is the incoming class size, so ~285 full appointments should be tendered.

Thank you USCGA2017hopeful. As much as I'd like to post her stats, the DD said no go  She did say I could PM them to you, which I tried to do but failed because I don't have enough posts :frown: I can e-mail them to you if you'd like.

Good luck to you!

So they will call to notify of an appointment? Do they do this for rejections as well? Thanks

EA I notification today

DD was notified today that she was selected for admission. She was a EA I candidate. Great news and we are very proud of her and her decision to attend the Coast Guard Academy.
