So I'm applying to USAFA this year and I've taken the ACT 5 times and I have a 28- English-28, Math-30,Reading-26, Science-28. I want to retake it but From August till October I'll be in Spain on a Foreign exchange program. And the one in december is after the deadline. I have a 3.99 GPA with all honors and AP classes. what should I do?

no I was going to take it in June but I went to Summer Seminar and I was traveling the weekend it was on. Now I have the same problem with the SAT as I do with the ACT!

I lived way too many years in spain.
Below is the facebook page, and the phone number(s) for Rota Naval Air Station Department of Defense Dependent school. In other words, the high school in spain, at ROTA Naval Air Base, where military kids go to school. They are a regular accredited high school. They take ACT/SAT tests just like you do. I am sure they will have dates to take the test if you'd like to go down there and take it. You might have to take a couple days off from your exchange school, but that can be worked out. I lived in Madrid and also worked at Sevilla and Zaragosa. Rota is at the very bottom. Right at the strait of Gibralter. It's a decent train ride. Then again, i'm not sure where you're going to go to school.

contact these people and you can probably arrange to take the act tests again. Your current test scores are pretty good. Reading is a little low, but the rest are fine. I WON'T recommend either way whether you should or shouldn't retest. I'm simply providing you with information to give you options. You need to be an adult and choose for yourself. But here's some information to help.

Also, contact the embassy/consulate in Spain and ask them how "THEIR KIDS" take the sAT/ACT. Maybe they have a proctor come and give the kids in the Madrid area the test. When I was there, we still had Torrejon AB in Madrid. The embassy/consulate kids would go to school at our high school. Best of luck. mike....

Or just go to the ACT website and sign-up for a test in Spain... It is really simple, at least in Brazil. Just sign-up in a test center near you, bring the required stuff (ID, pencils...) and take the test :thumb:

At least in Brazil, everything is done in English (instructions and whatnot).

Thanks! by the way I'm going to school in Spain, I'm getting in contact with my host family and seeing if they would be able to take me to the ACT!

Hah, I also wanted to take the June SAT! Too bad my flight arrived back home at the exact same time as the SAT started :frown:

Test center was at LEAST 1hr and a half away :p

I have a question about the ACT paper score report... It says I am at the "top 25%" of my class. I don't remember filling this in during registration... but if I did, I would have put "top 10%" (on the ACT Score report, it says that the majority of students are at the top 10% of their class). Does this affect my file at all? Also, it calculates my GPA... How does it even know my GPA, given I don't even study in the U.S. for regular year? I KNOW it's an estimation, but... do the Service Academies look into this or simply ignore it?

All that does is shows you how you compare to your declared school choices on the ACT for reporting. So if you select to send your scores to UNC, they compare your self-reported class rank, GPA, etc., to what UNC reports their incoming freshmen had for their stats.
It calculates your GPA based on the grades for the courses they asked you about when you registered.

Oh, so the Service Academies do not use it, right?
