Is a 25 composite score (25 on everything) any good?
Before it was a 22 with a 20 in English.

Thanks

My composite was a 26. Same question as above, How competitive is this score for the Naval Academy. I know this is not the only thing that is looked at but I just want to know generally how that stacks up.

Thanks!

I know of an applicant with a 26 who got in and an applicant with a 32 who did not. In the grand scheme of things, that is only one piece of the puzzle. If that were my score, either 25 or 26, I'd be studying and taking again!

I got a 25 composite on my ACT and recieved an LOA from USNA. I'm class of 2014, but still need a nomination to confirm it. I'm a recruited track athlete, so I think that helped me get the LOA. if yo take challenging classes, have a lot of leadership positions, do a lot of extra-curriculars/ communitry service, then you'll be fine :)

There will be many candidates with 28-29-30-31-32 ACT scores who have lots of extra curriculars, leadership, athletics, etc. How bad do you want in? Do you want to risk sitting on a 25 or 26 and hoping for a nomination, then hoping you are selected from the slate of ten nominees? Think I'd take that test again!

: )

Does the academy look at the Composite Score on ACT or just the English and math score

My son had a 26 composite, but his highest math and english scores were both 28, which is what usna is looking at. He got his LOA last week- BUT always remember they are looking at the total package!

Agree. 25/26 are not competitive generally. Specifically, who knows absent all the info, as jenny notes rightly.

But more importantly ...USNA doesn't evaluate using the composite score, which includes science and othere non-essential components.

Only the math and cr/Eng/writing (I'm blanking on what the ACT calls its verbal section?). The composite doesn't count. So, the question is of no real consequence. Nor the answer. Even 28's on each part, absent other compelling components of the candidate's package are not call for LOA. Speculating, kalyku's were simply good enough when combined with his/her other magic. But it was not the ACT.

Know of kids with 33, 34 and 35's and 2250 SATs who haven't received LOAs. Right now everyone is in the same waiting game boat.

Yeah, I got a 33 composite on my ACT (34 English 33 Math 36 Reading 30 Science) and decent scores on the SAT (1410 math + reading), did very well on the fitness test, and have lots of ECs, and have still yet to get a LOA. Needless to say, I'm pretty bummed.

However, the AFA has yet to update my SAT scores yet, so I'm going to call tomorrow and make sure they've received them; once my profile gets updated, it gets scrutinized again and gives me another chance for an LOA.
