Just curious if the RDs are part of the Admissions Board or if the Board is its own entity. Are they all full-time NA employees? or does the school use part-time workers to look at applications like some schools do that have a huge number of applications?

The Admissions Board is made up of roughly about 17-18 officers and civilians (I would say the balance is somewhat pretty even). Regional Directors and Admission Counselors do not normally sit in on the boards (I think they might be fill-ins...in the unusual circumstance a board member is unavailable).

Does anyone know in what order a persons file gets in front of the review board? My DS called last week and they informed him that his file has not been presented yet however everything has been in gor a while including MOC nom. Any thoughts?

bubalma, I was looking for this notice but could not seem to find it on USNA's site -- thanks for posting.
It seems this year there a few more officers than civilians. Of note, two "academic seats" are being filled by officers, which in other years might be filled by professors.

No problem.
It's buried and off the grid just like the Superintendent's overview describing the Admission Board's procedures which - although the overview is a bit dated - gives a pretty precise description of how the Board's admission process actually works.

What is the Character Review Board used for in admissions? How can they know character?

Character Review Committee deals with known questions involving a candidate's past history such as legal issues, arrests, academic cheating, etc..

Candidates with these issues in their past are typically referred to the Character Review Committee before any final Admissions Board decisions are reached on their suitability for possible appointment to the Academy.

Please keep in mind that a complete background check is also made on each eventual appointee before they are allowed to report for I-Day.

The LAST THING any candidate/appointee wants to do is have previously unknown negative background information discovered when the background check is made.

He called admissions. Asked for his RD. the woman who answered said he was in a meeting and asked if she could help. He had a question about something else but she volunteered the info that his file didn't go before the board yet.
