I got a call today from a Lt. in Admissions asking if I had any questions about the Academy. I thought it was the ALO's job to address questions about the academy. Do Admissions usually contact applicants? I'm just wondering because on this forum the talk is usually about ALO's not the Admissions office. I didn't even call them in the first place:eek:

any answers?

DS received a phone call from the RD, but they were not military. For all you know this Lt has been assigned for casual status until they go to school (like UPT), thus they need him/her to do something, and they determined to place them in admissions.

PIMA's comment is probably accurate.

The Admissions Office moved last week to temporary quarters in Fairchild Hall while their own area is renovated. They have a LOT of young Lt's working there...and they've been tasked to "make calls, helpout, etc...etc." Some are working the diversity office and will be traveling around the country this/next month to meet with students, schools, etc.

It's not a big deal; hope you had a great call!

fruit,
I believe this is normal followup. My daughter got the same type of call from the Naval Academy. Young lt's and ensigns following up on prospects.

thanks for all the advice. The call went well, I couldn't really think of any great questions cause this forum has done most of my answering  But he also said my scores were good :D
Oh what does DS mean?
In the precandidate booklet the 2013 act averages are lower than the 2013 profile act posted on the admission website. can anybody explain the difference?
Thanks again, Fruity

I believe DS is military speak for dependant son (DD is dependant daughter), fancy speak for "son". My son got a message from a LT from USAFA adm today as well.

I remember getting a call from an LT way long ago when I had just started the admissions process. Usually recent grads.

DS is not military speak it is forum Speak, and yes DS = Dear Son...DH= Dear Husband. DD= Dear Daughter. DS2 = second son, etc. etc etc

Hope that helps.

Military speak would be dependent 02 for first born, 03 for 2nd child, etc (wife is 01)

Wife is 01? Like a "Butter bar?"

"SHE" always said things like:

a. My DOR (date of rank) is 1 APR, yours is 1 JUN..."Snap to!" (Yes she outranked me by 60 days)
b. CinC House works just fine (CinC: Commander in Chief)

I ONCE said something in jest about "spousal unit."

That was about 1990...and I'm STILL hearing about it! :hammer:

Whenever I was president of the OWC (3 times, 3 different bases), Bullet would always say something like well the OWCIA says this XXX, so it must be true. Funny thing is we always were right!
