Does/can an early offer of a 4 year NROTC Navy option assist in admission to one of the very selective colleges..... Harvard, MIT, Cal Tech etc??

I would certainly be in touch with those units and see if they can get alittle pull with admissions. If you are competitive as a general admit to the school it may help. If you are admitted, the school gets full tuition payment from the NAVY and leaves general scholarship money for someone else. There are some years that all the slots are not filled in the very selective schools NROTC so I'm sure the unit will try there best to help you out if your numbers are competitive. Best of luck.

That question comes up every year and some people (including the ROO at my daughter's school) say "it sure can't hurt but generally, the answer seems to be no. I can tell you my daughter had a classmate that was accepted to every military academy and had ROTC offers from the Navy & Air Force but didn't get accepted for admission to MIT (her 1st choice) or USC. She ended up at the Naval Academy.
