I received a phone call a few weeks ago from the regional director of admissions for my area stating that West Point got my Congressman's nominations. He then informed me that I was his overall first choice for USMA (principle nom) and proceeded to tell me that it gave me a good chance of admission. I then got my application completed and was deemed medically qualified. On Feb. 12, 2016 I got the letter from admissions stating they had reviewed my file told me I was "qualified" and to wait on a decision of appointment.

I know the rumor is that the admissions board meets every Tuesday and was wondering if they put principle noms first? I was wondering if I am correct in my understanding that candidates with principle nominations are notified of appointment first. If so, how long might it be?
I know the waiting game is brutal, but any expertise would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!!

Give it one to two weeks. I was in the same position, and once my nom was in and was 3Q'd, it was a little less than two weeks.

Seconded. My file was qualified 20 JAN, I received my appointment 27 JAN. If you are P-nom'd and 3Q'd, you've got nothing to worry about.

What are the odds that I receive a appointment soon because I'm fully qualified and I have three Member of congress nominations? Two from my congressman and one from a senator.

EVD, you have been on this forum awhile and been pretty active. When do you think you will hear? Pretty sure you already know this answer... Today and as late as May possibly. More than likely somewhere in between. Step away from the keyboard, go enjoy senior year and life. Seriously the only regrets we hear from now 4/C Mids/Cadets is that they stressed way to much about what they couldn't control and spend enough time with family and friends. Take a deep breath and go have some fun!

Hate to be the grammar police but you are/will become a PRINCIPAL nominee, not a "principle" nominee. A lot of people still interchange these words here all the time.

    Otherwise congrats on your appointment.

"Hate to be the grammar police but" is wrong in the first place: you need a comma; your post was also rather repetitive: "still interchange these words here all the time." lol

Let's agree we make grammar and spelling mistakes all the time, shall we? Though, he does bring up the fair point that the two are different, and that we should certainly be more vigilant when communicating, even if only for the sake of not causing miscommunication.

My qualification letter said that "West Point has eliminated rolling admissions for this cycle." Does that simply mean that I cannot hear about an appointment any sooner than 26 Feb through early May?Has anyone else encountered this situation?

That is a form letter. The verbiage has not changed in several years and is not specific to your situation. Appointments are going out every week. You could hear sooner...or later than 26 FEB.

How did you first hear about your appointment? Was it through your portal, a phone call, in the mail etc.?? Just wondering what to expect.

I got a phone call on a Thursday, portal update on Friday, BFE in mail Saturday. YMMV, especially with MOCs - they don't always call.

I got a phone call, BFE, then portal update. My BFE came the day after it was mailed because I live so close to the academy.

Some colleges accept you as your application is complete, throughout the year. West Point (for the most part) has certain times where the majority of acceptances will be mailed out, hence the "eliminated rolling admissions". That's why you hear people talking about the "huge wave of BFEs" and so on.

I know, I was simply requesting a second opinion/confirmation. I thought it would be helpful.
