Son is PC 2012 for both USMA & USAFA. Will be attending AFA SS. He has been in touch with HS LO's for both USMA & USAFA. Has had an interview with HS MALO, but AFALO is really busy right now and he has not had chance to sit down and talk with him. Seems we have alot of LOs and Admission Officers to sift through... HS, Minority, Congressional, Regional....

1. In rank of priority, who should my son be contacting, by when, and by when should he have face to face interviews with all involved?
2. Should he try to have an interview (or at least some face to face personal contact) with MOC before the actual nomination interview? How much contact is too much contact with the MOC office nomination rep?
3. Personal Admissions Officer interview: Does it happen locally, or should he plan on condcting interview at SA? (If he is at USAFA SS, should he conduct his admissions interview during this time since he is already out there?)
4. This July/Aug hold a few key potential experiences to add to profile... travelling to South Pacific with a leadership program, potentially being appointed as next year's Commander for AFJROTC, more community service opps... Should he wait until he has more info and experience on all of these before interviewing any of the above, or get interviews now?
Any and all input is appreciated.

Until he actually applies to the academy; starts at the end of June/beginning of July; any contact is informal and simply a nice way to get to know each other. This goes with ALO and MOC. Once he's an OFFICIAL APPLICANT, he and his ALO will schedule a time to be interviewed. As for the MOC interview, each one is different, but most won't do an interview until around october/november.

I doubt very much that your MOC will allow you to have any face to face time simply to "Chat" about applying to the academy. S/He has a state/district to run. They're a little busy. I suggest you look at their websites and see what THEIR policy and procedure is for applying for a nomination. Or, you can call their staff member who takes care of these things for them. (The MOC normally doesn't handle any of the details with applicants other than the actual interview and nomination.)

There is NO INTERVIEW with the actual admissions office for the service academy. There are 12,000 applicants. They could never do that many interviews. That's why you'll interview with the ALO. The ALO will contact you after you become an official applicant. Then you can arrange a time for an interview.

As I mentioned, you won't be interviewing the MOC until October/November. You won't interview with the ALO until at least July. Probably a little further out. You can add any additional experiences, revised academics, etc... to your application all the way up through January of 2012. Don't worry about it.
Any and all input is appreciated.

See above in RED. Mike....

Christcorp is totally correct. My son never interviewed or even spoke on phone with AF Admissions Counselor - he knew they are very very busy (only a few emails AFTER deemed a candidate)-they do not interview at all. Had ONE meeting/formal interview process with ALO and about 3 emails. Our MOCs do NOT interview in person in our area. We sent in the paperwork and then were notified months later of nomination. You won't have to think of everything yourself. Each step is clearly outlined on what you need to do. Good luck!
