Hello I am strongly interested in going into the air force. I'm currently in 9th grade with a 3.75 gpa. My leadership activities include a civil air patrol flight sergeant and a jrotc guidon bearer and squad leader. I'm currently playing high school lacrosse, and looking to run cross country in the fall. I am also a great bass guitar player. Can someone give me advice please on my strengths and weaknesses to get ready for the academy application

Remove your name from the post. Not necessary and you may regret having it on a post in the future.

Dear OP, please edit your post and remove your name. This is a public forum and you should remain anonymous. Tactical Nuke can help you with that.

Good for you for getting a head start on your qualifications, it will serve you well. It looks like you are on the right track for sports and leadership. Take the hardest classes that your school offers, such as AP, honors etc. Take the ACT and SAT as soon as feasible and then concentrate on the test you do best in. USAFA super scores the SAT/ACT, so you can take it as many times as you need to get your scores up.

Do a search of all the chance me threads and then come back with more specific questions.

Join the cross country team. Having 2 varsity sports would be great for any SA.
Work on that GPA. Class rank is more important than GPA, but you cannot have a high class rank without a high GPA.
If you are a great bass player, what are you doing with those skills that the SA will care about? Do you play in the school jazz band, do you play on sundays at your church, do you and your band play for the local senior citizens home? Use that skill to do something that will make you stand out, As a HS freshman the opportunities may not be there yet, but get into leadership rolls, president of a club, captain of cc or your lacrosse team. Do something with you summer. Volunteer, get a job, coach a team, council at a camp, do something that will enhance your resume.

Read the forums, lots of good advice, and keep plugging away

You only have a certain amount of minutes to edit your post. Once past the mark, you can no longer edit your post. I think the limit is 30 minutes, maybe 45.

RG must have been on and off fast. Just more work for the mods to fix.

Hello, I am currently a junior and can share to you some tips that I've done for leadership and community service. I too am in civil air patrol, so use that to your advantage as both leadership and community service. If there is a local hospital look and see if you can volunteer there. I do in the ER. Also, there is relay for life whenever your community holds it. It's once a year. But for leadership, join or create potential clubs. I'm the president of the safety club, academic team, and best buddies because I was one of the first people to join those clubs. I am also doing boys state which is a good thing on your resume. I too play lacrosse but football as well. I will be varsity captain next year for both of those. If you have any chance of doing varsity early in your career do it so you have more of a chance at being captain. But keep striving for great grades. Hope this helps.
