Afa/afrotc question

DS had senate nomination, House nomination, ranked 1 in district by ALO, did not get an class of 2016 AFA appointment. He will push reset and try again.

Question: Is it permissible for an AFROTC freshman scholarship cadet to reapply to USAFA? Is the fact that he is on ROTC scholarship during freshman year held against him by admissions at USAFA?

If someone has some solid information on this question, that would be great. We need to let AFROTC know something in the next week.

Yes, your son can reapply, an appointment will supercede an AFROTC scholarship.

My friend received his appointment as a freshman in AFROTC on scholarship, I recieved mine as well while on scholarship

Just make sure your son is upfront with the detachment leadership when he arrives on campus. He'll need a recommendation I believe from them so you want them on his side.

The AFA looks favorably on those reapplying who have taken a full college course load with challenging classes (like you would get at the AFA) and done well in them, all the while staying active in things like ROTC etc.
