Hello I am an AFROTC AS100. I transferred detachments for this spring semester and will stay with them. This detachment is very organized and requires a DoDMERB appointment within the semester, in order to get ABU's/SB's (uniform.) In the last detachment I took the PFA and I scored a 93, so I am capable of passing the PFA and exercises.

My issue: In 2009, I had a motorcycle accident and fractured my Tibia I believe. It required a surgery and now I have 2 pins in my ankle. I did not get the pins removed because they don't bother me, but I'm starting to get a feeling that it's disqualifying. I also have a Varicocele on my left Teste which isn't a big issue, but I wonder if it's disqualifying??
I plan to get the pins removed this summer, immediately after spring semester ends (to avoid missing PT and ROTC LLAB), and have the DodMERB in the Fall semester. I'm not sure if I may get the appointment set back until Fall semester??
Is my plan of getting the pins removed before going to DoDMERB a good idea?
If I go to DoDMERB with the 2 pins, will I get disqualified?

Very Respectfully,

I'd wait for an expert, I'm not sure about the pins, but I know as a general rule you're DQ'd for 6 months after any surgery, so you may want to get the whole story before you get the pins removed, may do more harm than good.
