Good Afternoon ladies and gentleman,

Im on an AFROTC technical scholarship and want to change my major. I am currently in Chem and want to change to Computer Science. I spoke with my Captain and he told me it will be easy to do because its a tech to tech switch. I

My dilemma: My school offers multiple tracks in computer science. They are both BS degrees just one is engineering track and the other is arts and sciences track. Im assuming both would be ok considering they are both BS degrees, Im just trying to get some insight on this. I would speak with my cadre regarding this, but I wont be seeing them till Tuesday and Im seeing my adviser on Friday!

Thanks in Advance!

Arts and Science even in BS is not TECH. DS is getting a BS degree in Political Science and Govt, but the AF does not see it as TECH.

Next...time out, unless you are attending college and going to a X-town det., go to the det now! Even if you are x-town, email them for clarification. It is Weds. your back is against the wall yet. It will be Thursday night.

Talking/posting here is heresay/anecdotal for AFROTC. Your det. needs to be involved.

I understand you are a frosh and do not make waves, but keeping them out of the loop will create bigger issues if they have to come behind you to correct your decision.

I would def. not at all change my major as an AFROTC scholarship without direction from the unit.

PM them now, call tomorrow if you are at not at the host college.

AFROTC isn't handing scholarships like candy anymore.

agree with PIMA.. check with your PMS immediately. I would assume they are NOT both considered Tech... that the A&S Computer Science is not considered the same as the Engineering Computer Science. Hope I'm wrong... depends on the individual school and how the AF has assessed the curriculum for each major.

OBTW, you should also make sure with the school that this will not delay your graduation.

I doubt as a freshman it will, but even if it sets you back by a semester that must be relayed to AFROTC.

You are not the 1st to walk this path, will not be the last. I have to say for candidates watch this thread closely because many engineering cadets will change their mind within weeks for their major. If a scholarship is the only way you can afford to attend, and even if that isn't the scenario, you place yourself in a quandry...scholarship can't afford to stay...OML takes a hit and career field is in jeopardy.
