Our Det has been waiting since April to hear what our AFSC assignment is. Has anyone else from AFROTC been informed of their AFSC? This is for the non-rated AFSCs.

PM Nick4060 I know he was going non-rated.

DS went rated, and I believe it was about 5 days later than when they stated the intended release date that they found out.

What was the intended release date?

The intended release date was 25 March. Our Flight Commander said that the release was indefinately delayed.

Same thing happened at our Det. I talked to our COC and he said its a HQ decision for both ROTC and the academy. Supposedly people have been slacking off and not going for senior class leadership positions because they check out after getting AFSCs junior year. So now they want to test what happens when they wait until first semester senior year to tell us our jobs. Our class gets to be the guinea pigs.

Also, he said we might have to start over and fill out our Form 53s again. Really sucks.

Christcorp, an AFA parent of 12, stated that the AFA will not be announcing UPT slots for them until summer or early fall. Traditionally, ROTC finds out and a few weeks later AFA finds out. Don't ask me why they do it that way because all I would do is shrug my shoulders and say I don't know.

I have heard through various people and posters that starting with the class of 2013 that AFSC would not occur until fall of C400 yr. It appears that it maybe they are actually starting with non-rated 2012.

I would think what they are looking for is the full 3 yrs instead of 2 1/2.

Just throwing it out there, but maybe it also has to do with force shape re-structuring, and waiting for the dust to settle regarding career fields.

What will be interesting to see is next yr. Rated boards usually go first, so as bad as it might seem to wait until early fall C400, I would suppose that for 13 that would actually mean early winter/spring of 13 before they find out because rated goes 1st and they take the TBAS. If they don't get rated they are thrown into the non-rated. If you use the current model it is about 8 weeks span. Board meets in Oct for rated, results released end of Nov (6 weeks), that places non-rated in end of Dec./early Jan. No school at that time for winter break so either they push it to early Dec., hard to do because of the rated not being selected are going to go non-rated, and that means a Dec. board. 6 weeks at best for results and you are in mid-end Jan.

JMPO and throw it in the circular filing cabinet.
