AFROTC EA due date

They may not have a cap per se on the rated EAs, but instead have a cap on the non-rated/non-tech. They do something like this for certain majors that want to go rated, 100% can apply, but only a small percentage will be given rated because the major is considered critical manning.
Thus, it probably will still be better odds going rated.

The problem will be next year when they are 300s since they now have locked them into rated that pool might be much larger than they intended. I can't see how they will have the high percentage rates that they have in the past (@95%+) if the pool is increased to the amount that almost every cadet attending SFT are also applying for rated. Do the math and even if overall 75% said they were going rated, that would be about 1650, which if my math/memory is right, that will be @2x as many being boarded than slots awarded in years past.

So, either way if my math is correct many of these kids that may think being selected for SFT will up their chances for rated will find out next year that they will not go rated. My suggestion to the cadets that want rated is to get flight hours during the summer because that is going to be a factor for selection next year this time.

I also have been told by two posters that the AF is cracking down hard on the vision portion of the FC1 physical. Both have said that waivers are basically nonexistent for vision currently. Both are/were Q'd for commissioning. Just putting it out there that it appears that the AF for rated are not giving out waivers as frequently as they were in the past.

I doubt it.

I recall when our DS got his slot (yr. group that had 55%) they were told the stats the day it was announced. They were told not only the unit %, but also the cgpa for tech/non-tech. This goes back to why I always say to candidates ask the pertinent questions, and just don't listen to the stats that they give during the interview. You want to know how they rack and state k against the national selection. Is it the same cgpa? Higher may impact you later on.

For our DS's det the CoC called every cadet the night before and gave two different report times. Remember 55% received a slot, thus the cadets could not figure out even if they talked what the different times meant. For their det the early time was to inform them they were not selected, and since it was a LLAB day they were officially allowed to miss it.
~~~~ They do this in ADAF too when promotion results are released. They don't want to pour salt in the wound because that will be all they talk about that day.
At the selected briefing that is when they tell them the stats. They also hand them the paperwork needed to attend SFT. The paperwork will include what is needed for their bag drag. The list is long and very specific. They will be graded on this. They will also be given what is needed for medical purposes. Scholarship recipients are not exempt just because they have a DoDMERB exam. It can be done at the college infirmary many times because it is more of a school physical, current on shots, eyes, ears, weight.
The turn around for our DS was @ 10 days, so if you attend OOS and have a transportation issue be prepared to try to find a way to get a ride to a WalMart.
Do you have to continue to go to LLAB if you aren't selected? Idk if I could.
Are rated positions that badly in need? If they pull all these people rated and then contract them for their 300 year, how would they deal with people who don't get rated slots? Booting them would take like a third of the class size away.
If you do not get selected, "Special Students" do not have to attend LLAB but must attend the Air Class to obtain course credit.
Update from DS, he said that he heard that the CC ranking was dropping to 40% for all cadets competing for an EA. For the tech, foreign language, nursing, and non tech boards that the ACT/SAT/AFOQT AA will be 25% of score. The rated board will be what was mentioned in earlier posts. Interesting to see that the college cGPA carries less weight at only 20%?
Is there a source from this news? There's always news that comes from out of nowhere that always ends up to be rumors. Unless it comes straight from cadre I would consider it as a rumor.
So is this what the speculated weights would look like?
non-rated:
%40 - CC rank
%25 - AFOQT
%20 - cGPA
%15 - PFA
Rated:
%40 - CC rank
%20 - cGPA
%15 - SAT-E
%15 - PFA
%10 - AFOQT (Pilot/Nav)
I THINK this is a little more accurate
non-rated:
%40 - CC rank
%25 - SATE (highest score based on conversion chart AFOQT -AA, SAT, ACT)
%20 - cGPA
%15 - PFA
Rated:
%40 - CC rank
%20 - cGPA
%15 - SAT-E
%15 - PFA
%10 - AFOQT (Pilot/Nav)
That's what I meant lol
It's interesting why they even keep the SAT and not just use the AFOQT for everything.
Capt, last years 200 class had not even taken the AFOQT prior to EA selections, so all the selection board had to go on was their ACT/SAT scores. Since that % of the OML score takes the best of the ACT/SAT/AFOQT, it would help the cadet that may have not done as well on one particular test. Just my .02 cents!
Yeah I feel as though I could've faired better with a non-rated board. But I'm curious to know the ranges for where scores for AFOQT pilot fall. Such as %50-60 is average or %20-30 is poor.
On another forum, the avg numbers I have seen in years past were in the 90s for pilot. Remember though that for rated board you will have TBAS and pilot hours placed into the equation. PLUS, how you rank our of SFT, thus the equation will change come the rated board,
Just wondering if any 200/250/500's that are not on spring break right now have heard any new news on when the EA's are coming out? Are they still expecting them next week?
We were told that they drop this weekend again this week. Wouldn't it be more advantageous for Cadre to wait until LLAB to tell who got them? Has anyone ever hear of slots being announced at a different time?
