I have finished filling out all of my application except for my fitness assessment, but I haven't seen where it requires an essay or any short-answer questions. Are there not any on the application this year??

Every yr they update the site. Most posters here have already experienced the process, and will tell you it changes. If there is no place on the AFROTC scholarship website to submit an essay, than that is the case.

I am sure there is an email or phone contact for Maxwell, my suggestion is to contact them, they are the true authorities.

I don't remember having to submit an essay when I went through the process in 2009-2010, but like Pima said, it's a good idea to just contact them directly. When I did it there was a sheet for personal statements.

By the way, it's good that you've already started this process as it's a very long one. Below is a timeline and series of events I saved as I went through this. If you get all of your stuff in fast then you should be able to make the earliest board, which is the best plan because one may reject, but another may accept.

As you'll see, a good portion of this is waiting for them to get back to you.

Definitely check this out with Maxwell--last year there was a personal statement with 2 questions that had to be answered. And it had to be hand-written, not typed.

The following was the personal statement I had to fill out for the '10-'11 AFROTC Scholarship Application. Look at it for REFERENCE PURPOSES ONLY; chances are you'll get slightly different essay titles.
