I wasn't sure if I should put this under ROTC or the Academy forum.I go to Embry-Riddle and am participating in AFROTC. What I am wondering is, are the ROTC nominations for the Academy actual nominations or just letters of recommendations from our Detachment commanders. Would my commander have to fill out paperwork or is a letter of recommendation good enough for a nomination to the AFA?

^^^^^My daughter received an AFJORTC nomination. He instructor had to submit a specific form. So, I would assume there is also a form that must be completed for an AFROTC nomination. I suggest that you get that form submitted asap. It took 8 weeks for AFA to process daughters--just now showing on her app.

On that note, I just checked my daughter's USAFA application and it is showing 2 nominations: 1 from AFJROTC and 1 from AFROTC. I have no idea where the AFROTC nomination came from. Curious.

Your Commanding Officer writes a letter of recommendation to your school's president, who then submits it to USAFA. I believe the Academy hands out 20 of these nominations each year.
