AFROTC Orientation

What college?

For the majority of dets. it is not a biggie at all. It is like your college orientation, but here they will fit you for a uniform too.

For others, it maybe where they start the training process. The amount of time you need to be there prior to school starting will tell you the level of expectation.

2 days...fitting for uniform
2 weeks...training

Florida State. And yah its only like 5 days before so what you are saying is probably correct. Thank you for the quick processes! Why do some dets start training and some don't?

Thanks

Usually it is due to the college allowing cadets to move in prior to opening housing to all the students. For example, some colleges have dorms for ROTC cadets, thus they can open just that one dorm. Others will spread ROTC cadets around withing the freshman class, so it would be opening up all of the dorms early.

Yup Orientation is pretty chill. Last year we got a chance to meet the Cadre and Wing Staff . After that we had about 2 hrs of paperwork that needed to be filled out. I just read an email for this year's Orientation and it looks like the new 100s and 250s will get about 2-3 hrs of training in addition to everything else.

But like everyone has said its no biggie at all. Just make a good 1st impression. Best of luck to you. My 1st year in ROTC was my favorite part of freshman year. I had a lot of fun and met some great friends. Have fun with it!

Smart on their part for the 250s. Maybe the CC saw there was a common thread for 250s with SFT selection rate and now they want to get in front of it for next yrs board.
