AFROTC Pilot Slots

Just a quick question.

Is 530 pilot slots a high number, is it lower or higher then in the past.

The reason I ask, after reading the briefs from the AF that they will be slashing flight hours, and hearing that some pilots have been scrambling just to get the needed hours, will this number have a positive or negative effect on the amount of flight time AF pilots will get in the future.

That is a norm.

The AF has stated Initial Pilot training is not on the block regarding the 203K hrs cut, but you are correct there will be an impact because advanced training is on the chopping block.

It is a trickle down effect regarding the rated pipeline. Cut the hrs for op squadrons, equates to the amount they will have MQ. That will impact FTU (which is after UPT), which impacts UPT and that impacts IFS.

Protecting UPT/FTU will create an issue for officers that are up for Instructor in the squadron, or want to attend Weapons School. It will impact UPT because those in operational squadron aren't IPs.

The avg American does not grasp that the DOD has regs, and if they have to slash the budget this hard, it is not just about 1 yr., it is several yrs.

I posted on another thread, but seriously this burned my goat yesterday.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday that she opposes a cut in congressional pay because it would diminish the dignity of lawmakers' jobs.

"I don't think we should do it; I think we should respect the work we do," Pelosi told reporters in the Capitol. "I think it's necessary for us to have the dignity of the job that we have rewarded."
The comments were made in the context of the looming sequester, which would force across-the-board cuts affecting most federal offices, including Congress. With lawmakers nowhere near a deal to avert those cuts, federal agencies are bracing for ways to absorb them with minimum damage to programs and personnel.

Seriously? Dignity and reward for you job that got us here in the 1st place?
What about the military members that will cannibalize hardware to keep training?

What about the vets that will see TIRCARE premiums rise after they spent yrs in combat?

Dignity? Really?

I am not trying to divert the thread, I am just trying to illustrate how the Minority Leader's perspective will impact what will happen in the military if sequestration occurs.

How any military member can support her now, I don't know, but I would love to see one that says she is right...they shouldn't get a paycut like the DOD, IRS, FBI come March!

Our det had 18 cadets apply for rated slots. 16 got pilot, 1 RPA, and 1 was rejected for eye complications. That is a usual percentage for our det.

I got a pilot slot and my scores were:

PCSM: 92
PT:97.2
CGPA: 3.11
CC/Ranking: ?
FT Ranking: Top 3rd of flight

Fortunate to get Pilot.

PCSM: 80
PT: 97
CGPA: 3.7
CC/Rank: Top 1/3
FT Rank: Middle 1/3
