AFROTC Rated Boards 2016

As a matter of fact airlift/tanker is my planned route. Thought I was a cocky fighter jock, didn't you?

Trust me, never in a million years did I even remotely think you were a fighter jock. Mostly because.... you're not. Not even close as your attitude demonstrates. And "cocky"? Again a misconcieved notion on your part based on a Hollywood image. This seems to be an unfortunate trend for you.

What I DO think you are is just a kid who is very passionate about his dream, and not wiling to compromise it if something gets in the way. That passion is admirable. The condescending attitude about what the rest of my service does to contribute to the warfight is not, however. Frankly, I jumped on here because I felt you needed a swift kick in the pants to correct that.

Opinions are respected on this forum about as much as they were respected in Nazi Germany. One word that goes against the grain and you'll find the thought-gestapo jumping down your throat.

I hereby invoke Godwin's Law. Anything else posted by you beyond this point in the conversation is no longer relevant. Either you get your rated slot... or you don't. Either you adjust your condescending attitude about the rest of the AF... or you'll find your AF career (if you do indeed have one) will be miserable. No sweat off my back either way.

Well this turned out quite the interesting convo from just saying "it's not the end of the world if you don't get a rated slot".

Nonetheless all opinions on this forum are respected. But I personally won't be losing any sleep if I don't get a rated slot. Does that say I'm not passionate about it? Not at all. I've put in all the work I could to get myself in this position and to make myself as competitive as I can be. I'm fortunate enough to still have the opportunity to join the Air Force, because there are plenty of people who wish of being in the position we are in.

I just wanted to say, I've currently been on active duty for 1 year. I tried for pilot back in ROTC and because I was a weather major I didn't get picked up. (I had similar scores to you all) I'm currently in a non rated space operations job and while some of you don't think our job is necessary. Every day I'm safeguarding the US by watching for missiles that could be coming our way. On top of that, I'm making sure countries aren't messing with/ deploying anything to destroy our space capabilities. Yes, our job isn't glamorous, but if any of our space GPS satellites go down, the whole American infrastructure would collapse in minutes. Every time you use your debit card GPS is being used same with phones. I'm currently applying for pilot from active duty on this years board (yes I have the strong desire to fly ) but, I will never look back and say that non rated jobs are pointless. We all have our parts in the Air Force and the beauty of the AIr Force is that we all work together to accomplish the mission. If any of you don't get a pilot slot, realize it's not the end of the world and that many jobs in the military, although, not glamorous are just as important. Continue pursuing your dream but accomplish any job you get with a sense of purpose and pride and remember that you are an officer in the worlds greatest Air Force and that's what should really matter. Just wanted to throw my two sense in from what I've learned as a lieutenant. Hang in there, I'm also waiting to find out, and good luck to you all!

A very well written response by Frisb. I think that we're all online talking about these positions shows that either way, people are invested in both aircrew and the Air Force altogether. Which I only consider a good thing.

Looking forward to hearing that all of you received your deserved slots. Soon!

I would appreciate an example of when this has happened on SAF. We try very hard to make sure that everyone is treated fairly on this forum and that is quite an accusation that you made there. Please elaborate so that I can look into it and work on making things better.

Hi Eric

@Tex232 I don't care what you do, but in my experience, it's never good to antagonize others on a public forum. These things have a way of finding you down the road...

Just to piggyback (who doesn't love to hear that!) -- and for the sake of knowledge only, I don't want to continue the tirade of the last two pages -- AD officers (and enlisted who either want to be officers or are just curious on what future officers have to say) look at this site. I among them.

Everything you post can be traced back to you. It doesn't matter if you never say who you are or where you're from. If we believe there's something or someone out there that will detract from our mission then it most certainly is going to be scrutinized. Being contracted doesn't mean anything, and even if you get to UPT, you're still not much until you get wings (which in itself is still not a magic shield that protects you). And if by that point you don't have respect for what the rest of the Air Force does, you might as well just resign your commission.

Hi Chris!

Our cadre told us Friday that the board will meet again next week to double check the results. Apparently a few years ago there was a mistake in the first board that resulted in cadets receiving pilot slots and then getting them taken away a week after. I don't know about you guys but the suspense is killing me even though the double check is probably beneficial to us all.

Found this posted on a different forum; thought it would be relevant to post it here:

Our Cadre also told us the total number of slots they're giving for each AFSC:

a. Pilot – 350
b. CSO – 160
c. RPA – 145
d. ABM – 51

That's less pilots and almost double the RPA's from previous years

My det has had 100% EA selection and rated selection this past year, got my fingers crossed!

Having a hard time sleeping over this hahaha best of luck to us all! Today's the day!

Alright everyone, today is the day (hopefully)! Please post here if anyone finds out results come out or if they officially get postponed.

My cadre ritualistically waits until the trailing Friday to tell us. For cadets like me, please let us know your success/stats early on.

I just talked to our cadre. The results haven't been released yet to their knowledge. The good news is that they haven't heard of the results getting pushed back, which if that were the case they'd hear by now.
