AFROTC Scholarship Application Question

Sorry if this is a duplicate question, but I cannot seem to find the answer, either here or on the AF site.

My son began the AFROTC Scholarship application process about a week ago. He completed the first step, which was very general. It asked questions along the lines of contact info and SSN. He submitted it, and now we are waiting.

According the the AF site: "After you complete the online application, you will receive a confirmation email with information on how to download, electronically complete and submit/upload the following forms: ". This has not yet happened. I would have expected it to be automated such that he would get an e-mail back almost immediately instructing him on how to procede.

So my question boils down to the following: How long should it take to get a confirmation e-mail? Thanks in advance.

My son recently did the same and said the same. There is a note that the full application doesn't open until later this month.

Thanks for the reply, Oldsalt. My son and I went back online and logged into the account. Sure enough, it stated that things are delayed until mid-July. I don't understand the rationale of opening up the first part of the process if the AF is not ready for the 2nd part. Why not just delay the entire process until they are ready rather than spin people up?

Welcome to the military....repeat after me.... HURRY UP and WAIT

Remember the AF, and by extension AFROTC is a huge beuaracracy and because it is they will do things that make no common sense at all.
