i don't know. i have full intentions to go all four years, but i have had a special desire to attend the naval academy, you know that if you've seen my previous post to whether i should just stay four years at the citadel for a year or switch out to the naval academy, i cant decide, please i need alumni or people who have done this or anyone transfer or not, i need your help.. its not an easy decision for me...

p.s. i have been accepted into the citadel and will be attending

Thank you

I'd stay at the citadel if you go there, but that's just me. You have more flexibility to choose whatever military branch you want or go into the civilian world after you graduate. I admit I am biased... Fly Navy? No thanks:cool: Let's let the Air Force take care of air power...

It's different for everybody, I ended up not seeing the point in reapplying to West Point after earning an ROTC scholarship while at The Citadel. My uncle has a friend who reapplied to USNA and attended plebe year there. Then he decided he liked The Citadel better, quit USNA and graduated with his original Citadel class. Plenty of stories of the opposite as well.

PS: Fly Army, playing dodge-tree is more fun

i've been told so many different views, i mean i've wanted to go there and i heard of some people who did it and graduated, im just completely stuck.. ive wanted to go to the academy since i was little, but ive heard great things of the citadel, so im super stuck

I had two classmates in my company transfer to USNA after knob year. I saw them early in their plebe year when I went to USNA for a Citadel/Navy football game at Annapolis. One of them told me he was glad he never had to go back to The Citadel again. The other one (third generation USNA) told me that if he had known knob year what he now knew, he would have stayed at The Citadel.

I guess it depends on what you want and what is important to you. YMMV.

well not like switching is a given, NA gets about 18,000 applications a year for 1500 acceptances; if you can get in more power to ya.

hey guys sorry for the long response, i know thats its hard as hell to get into here, but would you go through knob year and then do it all over again plebe year. i mean it's a sacrifice to take but i don't know, maybe i might like it over there.

I'm in the same situation, just with rival schools! I'm going to VMI next year and am reapplying to USMA. The way I see it, what's the trouble in just applying? You can make the decision to attend later down the road. I'm going to play it by ear, but want to open up that West Point door. I may find that staying with my Brother Rats is more important than the Academy experience.

Jarhead, thanks for the reply, you see, i know its not hard to apply, but the training in both schools is tough, i mean it'd be hard to go through all that training at one school to transfer and have to do all that hard training at an even harder school, it's something to think about i guess

Well then you need to think about if it's worth it to you. Would you rather commission in 2018 or 2019?

will at my Navy CVW, my host midshipmen did a year at the Citadel before reapplying he said he was glad he made the change because he felt that Navy was better for him. If you like the Citadel stay, he you still want navy go for it if it doesn't work out your still on the track to being an officer.
