I sent in my preliminary application on Monday the 14th. I then recieved an email stating "Thank you for submitting a Preliminary Application to the U.S. Naval Academy. It will be reviewed, and if you qualify, you will receive a candidate packet in the mail with a candidate number and instructions on how to apply online."

Now do I have to go through the nomination process with my senators and such to recieve this packet or do they send it automaticly? If they do send it automaticly (assuming I have qualified) about how long will it take to recieve it?

No, you should get your candidate number as a seperate thing from your nom forms.

The application process for USNA and the nomination process are two separate processes that happen simultaneously. Do not wait for your candidate package as they are independent of each other.

You need to start working on your nomination process NOW, especially since most state Senators require their packages to be submitted/completed by 1 October. Seek nominations from all sources which you are qualified for - you can find out about nomination sources from http://www.usna.edu/Admissions/steps4.htm

Best of luck!! :thumb:
