I know, I saw your question.

Don't focus so much on this Ranger/Special Forces stuff now. If you want to be an officer through ROTC, focus on getting good grades in colleges, doing well at LDAC and getting Active Duty.

Walk the Talk

I remember a ceremony/family day a couple of years ago at one of my sons schools on a base in the South. A little girl who was a sister of one of the cadets goes up to my son's sergeant. "What do you do sir?" Deployed many times, and very loud and proud, the Sergeant said, "Young Lady, I kill terrorists. Maybe you do need to walk the talk sometimes. I told my son to remember him.

very true!

We got a liberal here folks, and yes i think protecting America against terror is patriotic and if you don’t i really don’t know what to say to you.

OK we played nice.

Cut the liberal comments. His comments about equating patriotism with killing terrorist was not far off.

If your main objective in joining the military is to kill then stick with Call of Duty, it's less messy.

Aglahad has it correct, as an infantry officer your time in the field will grow less quickly as you are promoted, if your desire is field experience, enlisted is the way to go.

As for what Norwichdad commented on, Thats expected from the Sargents and elisted personell and thank god for it. You would be hard pressed to hear a comment like that from an officer, not that they don't think it sometimes.

And drop the attitude, you show up to ROTC with it and they will eat you alive.

You people are making it out like that...I was asking a question completely off topic about "killing terrorists"...

Overall, I think you are giving off the vibe to those on here a few traits not desired by officers. Officers are meant to be level headed, clear, concise, decisive, mentally agile as well as give off an overall sense of exemplary leadership. Run and gun patriotic blast em' all traits might pump up some PV2s, but you will have a platoon to look after eventually not just yourself.

What happens when you are in a S shop or reach 0-4 and those blast em all days are over?

I think they need to be restrained, agressive and be in front of situations. Just like parents.

I’ve been training physically and mentally to be a spec ops soldier sine the 6th grade.

I originally thought that this was meant tongue in cheek. If not, please describe the training regimen you used to prepare for special operations. I think a lot of ROTC prospects that share your aspirations would find your training regimen helpful in their own preparations.

Hey man guess what, I consider myself to be liberal. That doesn't mean that I will hesitate any less than you will when you have target in your sights and it comes down to it, but I don't relish the fact that I very well might take someones life one day. As an officer your job is to lead men into combat with a level head, and going into combat with a "kill em all" attitude is not the way to do it. Look up Operation Iron Triangle, that same attitude got many innocents killed and many soldiers lost their jobs.

It's all making sense now. When you first posted your SAT scored for CR was 480, I assume you must have had a bad day. Now I realize you simply have difficulty reasoning on a good day.

lol you people are judging an attitude by my typing. That's like judging a book cover when you only read the opening line.
