So he's in but nothing is showing up under events so he can select the week. Is that just not updated yet?

Welcome 2021 Future Candidates. First of all take a deep breath and relax. There are 2020 waitlisters still in the running for the class of 2020. If you start to stress now (I did) you will go crazy. CGA is good about time frame for acceptances. You get a date (today, since the 1st was on the weekend) for acceptance/rejection to AIM. Your DD or DS will receive notification to select their week (first come basis). Notification came via e-mail last year and it had a glitch. Breathe in, breathe out. Be a gumby(flexible). For those that applied for other summer programs, I know the Navy was a rolling admission with notifications going out for week one before the application date closing. I know that, because DS rec notification a couple of weeks after he sent his app in. Go figure. This is only the beginning. EA results are released from early Nov. until Christmas eve. If you apply EA you will get a thumbs up, thumbs done, or waitlisted. There are no roll overs for EA to RD. RD results will trickle in through March. Waitlisters may start to hear as early as the end of March, through sometime in May. No one can give you exact date, times or numbers. It is a roller coaster ride. As you will read on this forum, have plans B, C, D, etc. Do not put all your cookies in one basket. Sometimes I think the process is something out of a Harry Potter Book. It is all magic. We were blessed. Ds received an ISR NROTC Scholarship in July, Appointment to the USNA early, and CGA (His #1 Choice in Nov.) This is the exception, not the rule. If you have specific questions on the process, you can always PM me. Best of luck and don't obsess over the process. You will loose too much precious time with you DD or DS.

I also went on to payment site, and they charge showed as $400, even though everything else shows $475?

The acceptance letter was in Bears Den then it disappeared. Not sure where it went.

DD said she got an email stating the page went down. Guess they start early with learning Semper Gumby!

ALCON FYSA:

If you have viewed your decision and are no longer able to access it, your decision has NOT changed, you will be able to access your decision soon and will be notified when able to do so. Sorry AIM folks...System went down last year too..They also had recent problems with current appointee's Bear Account..May 1st was deadline to accept/decline appointments for class of 2020. System overload?????

My DS received a rejection letter with encouraging statements that they had a record number of applicants this year but that he was still an outstanding candidate and to take advantage of other programs offered, such as Cadet for A Day and to still apply for the class of 2021. Is this the standard rejection letter that is sent out to all applicants? He is disappointed and we are doing our best to keep his spirits up.

I believe AIM numbers are lower this year, because class of 2020 is higher this year. Keep the faith and apply for Cadet for a day. Get up there during the Academic year so that you can see what the Academy is all about. Go Bears

My DS went through that last year as well and did cadet for a day instead. He enjoyed that experience and it made him want to apply to CGA even more.
Our AO advised there are so many AIM applicants that it ends up being a lottery as to who gets in.
The AIM result of not getting in is no big deal in the CGA application process. Candidates should not let this result hold them back from applying to CGA if the CGA is where they want to be.

I was told by an admissions officer at an Academy Services Information Night that if you received an AIM acceptance or an invitation for a Cadet for the Day, that means you are considered competitive. Both are equal in the eyes of the Admissions office. They literally randomly chose who gets to go to AIM. It sounded like they pick the names out of a hat. Your DS should be encouraged that he got an invitation to visit the campus.
