So, wait listed means you met the criteria, just not lucky enough for the lottery of spots, right?
Those that get Cadet for a day option will get invitation instructions on how to apply on their account. There will also be a specific future date when the application process opens up. It is a matter of the candidate picking the date from the list of possible dates provided in the invitation and submitting their choice. My understanding is that the numbers are limited for cadet for a day so the application for the date of choice should go in as soon as applications for cadet for a day open up - the date of application opening will also be shared in their account. Also, will they invite to Cadet for a Day or does he still have to apply seperately?

AIM is a lottery due to the number of applicants versus the number of slots available. AIM is like Swab Summer. Cadet for a Day gives an idea of what real day-to-day cadet life is like. DS was very disappointed to not make AIM, but attended CFD. He loved it. He will be a Firstie is a couple weeks.

My DS and I attended the Pre-AIM seminar in Rochester back in March. At that time LT McIntyre-Coble told the group that there would be modifications made to the "physical" part of the AIM program due to some incidents at prior AIM's.The rumors going around are that AIM is slowly going to become more similar to the other summer seminars than to a week of swab summer starting this year.
My DS was told today by our areas admin officer that the CFAD invite will be emailed out to individuals later this summer.Do you have to be invited to Cadet For A Day? My rejection letter offered it up; but I'm just wondering if this is something that anyone can go do.....
Hey guys new member here. I will be applying EA for the class of 2021. I visited the Academy for a tour in April and I loved it.
I was recently rejected from AIM. I have a 4.1 GPA, a 2020 SAT score (1380 2-score), 10 Varsity letters so far, over 500 volunteer hours, I am Exec board president of my school, NHS member, Volunteer at the VA War Museum, I have a GIS internship, and I am a soccer referee. My question is that with all these credentials that will easily get me into my second and third college choices (VA Tech and Univ of Oregon) how can I expect to get into the CGA if I couldn't even get into AIM? What am I doing wrong? The only thing I can think of is that my GPA is a 4.1 opposed to a 4.4 or 4.5. Any advice?
Read some other threads - AIM admission seems to be random and has little to no bearing on admission to CGA. Based on the year, only 34-50% of EA appointees were AIMsters. Especially with stats like yours, you will receive an invitation to Cadet for a Day.
DO apply for Early Admission. The bulk of first-time candidates receive their appointments through EA, plus the competition is less stiff due to no reapplicants.
Don't get hung up on the fact that you were rejected from AIM admission. Honestly, that's not a predictor to gaining an appointment to CGA. My DS was rejected from AIM last year. As a result, he was invited to attend CFAD. He loved it and received his full appointment to the class of 2020. He also applied EA. If you want to play a sport at CGA, I would suggest that you go to the Intercollegiate Athletics page on the USCGA website and fill out a recruitment form and follow up with the respective coach for your sport. They will be more than willing to meet with you when you attend CFAD (which I highly recommend). This puts you on their radar. Good luck!Hey guys new member here.
