AIM Decision Question

I'm worried DS didn't get in - he only received the email stating that the admission notifications this morning were incorrect . He didn't receive anything before that

My sons acceptance letter was online after logging in bears den, but gone now. He did not receive an email notification only the email that stated the errors

Ok not sure - I'll ask him when he's home .
How do I change my login ? DS would prefer our last name not be on forum posts

We did not get the email, we just got the letter in Bears Den. :( we did print it out.

My son text me earlier today and asked me to check his emails because he was at school. Around 11:30 AM there was an email sent out from USCGA that stated there were "some technical errors earlier in the day" and that "many erroneous decisions were posted online", and "check your AIM 2015 decision when you receive an email from us"...about 30 minutes ago my son just sent me another text and asked me to check his emails again. He did receive another email from the USCGA stating that a decision has been made and to check online. My son was selected to attend AIM - he just has to pick what session, which I assume he'll do tonight.

I just checked. Accepted this morning and now declined. Really took the wind out of my sails :(

We only received one email this afternoon, stating my son was not selected. A big disappointment to him, congratulations to those of you that got accepted, hope they work out the problems and really hope that those of you that received an initial acceptance do not have that changed.... we will keep checking email to see if there are any more updates as the day progresses.

This was not the day to have a second cup of coffee. Never received initial email. Letter in Bears Den saying she was accepted to AIM. No events scheduled in group events. Several minutes ago email notification, letter in Bears Den, and group event posted. Please let it be correct this time around. DD had me go ahead and select the date, just in case.

Eulerchick that is horrible!! So sorry, it was bad enough for my son to get declined, but to get an acceptance and then an OOPS that was a mistake.... horrible.... sorry for that! But hang in there, maybe you and my son will be lucky enough to be in the other 70% that get into the academy but didn't got to AIM. Keep the dream alive!!

My son CS got his letter about an hour ago. CS did not get a spot in AIM, but got invited to CfD and other activities. "Please know you are an outstanding candidate and not attending AIM in no way affects your application to the CGA Class of 2020. We look forward to working with you in the future. Please contact your Admissions Officer to discuss your options in preparation for the Class of 2020 application." I've read in past years this is a good sign as qualified applicants get this type of letter they just didn't have room for everyone. Can anyone offer any advice or confirm/deny?

Yep, happened to us too. Accepted this morning. and declined now. Maybe it will change again by Monday, ha.

Thats the same response mine got, but I get the impression it's a form letter. I suspect every one rejected got the same reply.

Congratulations to all the kids who got in. No joy in my house

I got wait-listed. When I checked early this morning, I was wait listed and then they sent me an e-mail saying that there were technical issues and that erroneous decisions were posted. Later, I got an e-mail that my decision has been posted online. It still says that I am wait listed. Could this change? When are the final correct e-mails going out?

I would hope someone from USCGA could provide an explanation on how such a terrible mistake could be made. Telling someone they were accepted in the AIM program to only have it taken away in the same day? The students are being held to the highest level. Shouldn't the administration?

The Director of Admissions asked me to post this:

I sincerely apologize for any confusion on the notification of AIM decisions. We released our official decisions at approximately 2:30 PM EDT on Friday, May 1st, and at this point all decisions are properly loaded. Prior to that time, our team was working behind the scenes testing the system and soon learned that a default letter from a previous AIM program was mistakenly associated with some accounts. We were made aware of this early Friday morning and immediately locked the site to correct this unintended mistake. I fully recognize and appreciate the apprehension and confusion something like this can cause.

AIM is a great program and we would love to have everyone attend that wants to, but unfortunately we can only take a certain amount each year. Be assured, we have many programs available both on campus and across the country at Coast Guard units and other venues. For those who received an acceptance congratulations, for those who did not, rest assured that over 63% of applicants who received appointments to the incoming Class of 2019 did not attend AIM. Not attending AIM does not impact your application should you choose to apply for the Class of 2020.

Again, I apologize for any confusion this may have caused and wish you all nothing but fair winds and following seas as you begin your college selection journey.

Go Bears!

To add to what CAPT McKenna has written and answer a previous question, if you were qualified but did not get a slot in AIM, and your letter offered Cadet for a Day, seriously consider that opportunity. Rather than an exposure to Swab Summer, CfD is exposure to the daily life of a cadet.

On May 1st I cracked my bears den account and was told that I did not receive a spot at AIM. Later that day at 11 I received the email stating that some decisions were wrongly posted and told to check back later that day. I did after I received another email stating my acceptance decision was updated and was told yet again I did not get in... Is there a possibility that the decisions is still not final?

There was No Confusion, the students were told they were admitted on Official USGA letterhead, which is pretty clear. The fact they were just then denied without even an apology or other option is very unprofessional. The school needs to open up an additional week and give those students a shot or at least add them to the top of the Waiting list.
The Service members in my family don't believe this and are upset.
