AIM is a weird deal, my son didn't get accepted to AIM and yet he got an appointment to the USCGA.
There are plenty of applicants that get accepted to AIM and then don't get an appointment and there are plenty of applicants that don't get accepted to AIM and yet are still offered an appointment.
AIM seems to be better for you than for the USCGA. Although they do look at you during AIM it seems to be more for you to see if you like it and so you get a flavor of what to expect, is the USCGA for you or not...

How will my DD get notified if she accepted into AIM?

I found out through my personal email. It will also show up (either denied or accepted) on her Bears Den account. May 1st seems to be the day in which all emails go out.
