Searched forum quickly but could not find it so starting a new thread - what is Air force academy association?
Yesterday got a call soliciting money from them, and they started with requesting a modest $2500 donation.
Asked who they are and what they do and if they are different than AOG (whom we like many others faithfully send $20 a month) and they said help cadets with all kinds of activities on campus.
Asked the lady to email me the details and said my C4C is just after BCT so we have no clue on activities then she said not everyone can donate $2500 how about some small donation of $500. I said no but will evaluate their details and they said they will call back.
Anyone donates to them? What do they do and how they help cadets? Don't our cadets pay for their trips on clubs, lets say the most popular snowboarding club I believe they have club fees as well as bus fees and buy their own lift tickets, and same goes for other clubs not sponsored by academy. If not I believe AOG might chip in?

Negative results on a Google search of "Air Force Academy Association." As a parent of a C2C, I have never heard of, or have been solicited by them. They passively refused to send you info you requested via email. If they do, obviously do not click on any links. You may want to reach out to USAFA's Parent Liaison. Sounds like a scam.

Calling USAFA Public Affairs Office should provide definitive info and provide an opportunity to report a scam, if that is the case, which could be looked into and shared out with a warning to parents and others.

You may just have missed the end part of the into, it may have been "Air Force Academy Association of Graduates", we've had calls from them and sometimes they just say Air Force Academy Association. I would just check with them though. Look at caller ID, usually will get a Colorado Area Code. They call for donations all the time LOL.

No I explicitly asked them if they are AOG or Academy of Graduates and they said No, different organization. I thought they might be legit since they got phone our number and email from somewhere and info that our kid is in AFA, and since we are currently in WebGuy/AOG, local DC parents association and write2them, all of which can probably share with sister volunteering orgs for shared solicitation purposes.
They did not follow up with email though so to me not a good sign. Even if legit , that organization may not feel right with strange phone solicitation. She said she will email the info and follow up with the call in a couple of weeks so I do not like it. Even if legit, they probably spend so much on fundraising I would refuse (I followa rule of at least 87% cause/13% or less for fundraising/admin ratio for charities, with good ratings on charitynavigator/charitywatch, etc). Obviously WebGuy, local parents org, squadron fundraising are unique and this rule does not apply, but this org sounds suspicious, especially if nobody on this forum recognized it, so thanks for responses it will make it easier to say No.

I received the same call. It's for the endowment for the Air Force Academy. Google Air Force Academy Fund, and you'll get lots of info. I received a letter and calendar from them explaining what they do about a week before their call, and they said in the letter to expect a fundraising call. Some of the things they say their funds support are the Center for Character and Leadership Development, cadet clubs, international immersion programs, summer internships, undergraduate research, graduate services, parent services such as webguy, parent handbook, zoomienews, etc.
