The USAFA Summer Seminar applications go out on December 1 from my understanding. I took the ACT Test Plus Writing last month with no preparation and my composite score was a 24. I know that this score is below what it needs to be so I had signed up to retake the test on December 10. With that being said, I probably will not know the new scores until late December or early January. Since the admissions process for SS is on a rolling-basis, should I submit my current scores or wait until early January with my new scores?

Did you take the PSAT's? Maybe you could submit those scores instead.

No, I took the PLAN Test (ACT practice) and recieved a 24 as well. I know that I'll be able to get around a 30 Composite next time. Under the circumstances I was under the first time I took the test, I wasn't too mad about it.

DS got in to SS with a 24 ACT- He had a strong GPA (4.0) and EC with a ton of leadership, volunteer hours and Varsity sports. They are aware that your scores will most likely go up between now and application time so it is only one component in what they look at. Attending motivated my DS to work hard and get those scores up for his application. Apply- You can't get in unless you do.

Most certainly. I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA, two acadmic letters, numerous varsity letters, volunteer hours, and most recently received Academic All State First Team from the Colorado High School Activities Association. So hopefully they are understanding.

I applied last year with a 24 and a 4.0 and EC and got accepted! I would suggest go ahead and send it in and when u get the new scores update it!

Right on. That's exactly what I am going to do. Thank you!

Yea its not ALL about test scores. My friend had a 21 ACT and got accepted to SS. He also had like a 380 CR, 480 M, and like a 350 W. However, his leadership positions and ECs were off the charts (literally).

Yeah it's about the whole person. You can be scholastically great, but if you lack leadership potential then you're not meant to go to the USAFA. For crying out loud, you have peoples lives at risk.

I would apply early no matter what. You can update your scores at any time, but you cannot go back and submit earlier! There are only so many slots open, and each day you wait after they start selecting brings your chances down, because some slots will already be gone.
Good luck!
