Just a reminder: Air Force plays against TCU on saturday. Game time is 5:30pm. If you are in the area, please come support your Falcon. (Cadets, you have to be there, so definitely cheer your falcons on.). There WILL be a Thudgate Tail-gate like always. Anyone at the game is more than welcome to come visit. We'll have food and drink. Please stop by. Let's help the Falcons get out of their slump. We're playing the #10 team in the country. If you can't make the game, catch it on CBS-sports on tv. later... mike....

Stay warm and take your snow shovel! We were going this weekend but decided with the weather forecast to wait until next weekend.

Well, I'll have my family :jump1: ; my brothers and sisters (air force family) :usa: ; and some "Jeremiah Weed" :beer1: . (And the weather may actually give us the edge). :groupwave: What more could a man want???

Later... Mike....

Which means us cadets are gonna be freezing regardless, yes!

Oh well, go falcons!

I expect you at the tail-gate. (Thudgate). We'll have warm food and drink for you. In the parking lot; right behind the BIG TENT; you'll find an RV with 2 flags on it. THUDGATE!!!! Be there!!!!!!

Now; once the game starts; all I can suggest is "HUDDLING" together. Hope we score a lot so you can volunteer to do a LOT OF PUSHUPS to keep warm.

Time for the Falcon to SWOOP down and snatch up a Horn-Frog!!!!

my son will be there freezing his butt off. Keeping him warm he is on a recruiting trip.

Well tell him to come on over to the tail-gate. It's a blast. Tell him ALL is welcome. later... mike.....

Hold on Christcorp, i hope you weren't telling me to volunteer to do pushups... thats a 4dig thing ;)

Its okay I forgive you.

I was going to do pushups....then got put in a cast last week. Oh well, try and stop by at the tailgate before the game starts.

The pushups was in response to "Freezing your tail end off". Sometimes, it's good to "LEAD BY EXAMPLE". (It would warm you up) LOL!!! Matter of fact; I TOO might do pushups. And if Air Force could score 30+ points against TCU, it would be MY PLEASURE to do pushups. (But mainly, I would do them to get the blood flowing). mike.....

In honor of "Armed Forces Appreciation Week" on CBSC-TV, at halftime of the Air Force-TCU game (CBSC is on channel 613 on DirecTV) they will show the highlights of today's Coast Guard Academy-Fitchberg State game, a nice perk for D3 Coast Guard Academy football (despite losing in OT 37-34 :unhappy: )

CBS College Sports Network, the broadcast home of U.S. service academy football, will salute our nation’s Armed Forces and service academy football teams: Army, Navy and Air Force. Coverage is highlighted by a tripleheader featuring each of the academies on Saturday, Oct. 10 - Vanderbilt at Army (NOON, PM, ET), Navy at Rice (3:30 PM, ET) and TCU at Air Force (7:30 PM, ET). CBS College Sports Network kicks off the day with a special one-hour (11:00 AM – 12:00 NOON, ET) “SALUTE TO THE ARMED FORCES” pre-game show.

Ok, this fencersmother was home all day today, alone! I watched parts of the Army game (Go Knights!), some of the Navy Game (still sore from last week), and most of the USAFA/TCU game. What kind of tundra are you playing on there??? hahaha

Sorry the Falcons came up short there, but TCU does have a good team. Nothing to be ashamed of.

Mike: you got a trailer or a tent with a stove in it? Are you frozen solid?

When I win the lottery, I'm definitely coming for your tailgaiter.

STEELERS vs. LIONS TOMORROW!

go BLACK & GOLD!

Hey there kiddo. Let me tell you about the last 30 hours of my life. (I just go back home to wyoming). But 1st; I would like to thank all you cadets who took the time and stopped by the tailgate. It wasn't as "populated" as normal; but DUH!!!! There wasn't a lot of fans in the seats. But to those of you who came by, (You sort of had to be there anyway, LOL); it was great seeing you. Glad you could get some chile, steak, and such. It was fun. And next Saturday, I will be bringing you guys some cards I promised.

Fencermother; darling, sister of mine. Yesterday, was the day from HELL!!! Friday afternoon, the snow started coming. Wind and cold so bad, they shut down the interstates (I-80 and I-25) in AND out of Cheyenne. Went to bed at about midnight on Friday. Some snow, but I've definitely seen worse. Woke up the next day and YIKES!!!!! 13", yes, 13 thirteen inches. And the city is shut down. And guess what? The University of New Mexico, after landing in Denver, was on their way to Laramie to play Wyoming yesterday. Well, the interstates were shut down 100%. So, Wyoming, being the hospitable people we are; at 8:30am on saturday morning, had 2 snow plows and a number of Highway Patrol running a Convoy of University of New Mexico busses the 56 miles from Cheyenne to Laramie.

Well, we were going to head south at 8:30am, but as I said, all highways were shut. We waited till 9am, nothing, Waited til 10am. Nothing. Waited til 11am, Nothing. Made up our minds that if they were still closed at 12 noon, we weren't going to make it. Well, the roads opened up a little after 11am, and I posted one last post on the falcon football forum telling the guys that we were going to try for it. Once we got about 40 miles south, the roads were much better, and I was able to get her back up to Mach 2+. Made it down to the springs in 2hr and 20 minute. "Let those truckers roll 10-4".

And yes!!! The game was cold. Quarterbacks were throwing balls into the sidelines (Unintentionally). Empty seats around us had ICE on them from the wet fog that rolled in during the game. Everyone was huddled together.

BUT;;;; The cadets and the fans were fantastic. MOST stayed til the end. We lost, but our boys played their hearts out. And I know that we never get any TCU fans probably on this forum, but I will tell you right now; "TCU IS A CLASS ACT"!!!! After every game, our players go over to the cadet wing area and sing the 3rd verse of the air force song as a toast to those who died before us. And TCU, unlike just about ANY other team, came to our cadet wing area WITH the falcon players and bowed their heads while we sang in remembrance. CLASS ACT!!!! If you see any TCU students, thank them. Texas has ALWAYS RESPECTED the military. If anyone here is from the Dallas area, you should be very PROUD of TCU.

Anyway; it was a close game. Our boys played their hearts out. We'll try again next week. This time against WYOMING!!!! Talk about a conflict!!!! Naaaaa; GO AIR FORCE!!!!! Oh, the weather is suppose to be 66 degrees next weekend. later... mike.....

The TV announcers talked about the TCU team and coaches going over for the playing of the AFA school song after the game. Turns out the TCU head coach, Gary Patterson, has a son in the Army or Marines so he said he has much respect for our country's armed forces. Was a class act from TCU and their coach which I believe initiated the respect their team gave. We live about 30 minutes southwest of Fort Worth where TCU is so we hear alot about TCU and have alot of Horned Frog fans around. And you are right - Texans support those that lay down their lives for our country and others to enjoy freedom.

Watched this game on TV (in between the Florida-LSU game). Saw the "Section 8" group. Were they sitting in Section 8 of the stadium or are they "crazy" or both? :shake:

well to make up for Cad, i did do pushups. actually kind of fun. too bad we couldn't have done 3 more right at the end. I did get on tv a bit though, which was cool. family at home enjoyed that.
