Well - son's ticket from the AFA to fly him to COS for In-Processing came today....this is becoming real too fast! He has chosen to use the AOG's Bed and Breakfast program so our goodbyes will be from DFW airport on June 24. He doesn't graduate until June 2 so it will be a short summer. We are lucky that American Airlines flies direct from DFW to COS for very reasonable fares.

What if we didn't choose the AOG Bed & Breakfast program? I'll arrive in CO on June 24. I'm not exactly sure where i'll be staying.

Do we have to do anything with that ticket? Or do we just bring it on the day we are supposed to leave?

It's not to late to sign up for the AOG Bed and Breakfast program if you want to. If fact, I don't think it has even opened on their website as of last week.

The ticket we got was an e-ticket. It has already been paid for. When my son sent back his acceptance there was a place to say if you wanted the AFA to purchase you a ticket or if you were coming by land. It did say for him to keep a copy of what they sent and turn it in at In-Processing.

So just to make sure, I received my ticket in the mail and I am set to arrive on the 24th. Does this mean I have to find my own lodging? And if so where can I find that information for that bed and breakfast program? Thanks!

Wow, yall already received plane tickets? It said on the information that they wouldn't be sent out until june.

Airline Tickets

My son's tickets arrived also. My sentiments exactly with Aggie that it's becoming too real too fast. After we got his ticket we thought about going as a family the weekend before to say our goodbyes together. It says the ticket can be exchanged and I e-mailed Delta but I haven't heard yet. Does anyone know how easy it is to exchange for a different date?

Just throwin this out there... Is anybody flying from O'Hare to Dallas to Colorado Springs, landing in COS at 6:55 (I think), on American Airlines? Cuz I am

My son flies out of DFW around 11 am CST and arrives COS around noon CST (it is around a 2 hour flight). Nonstop American Airlines. I would expect there to be alot of cadets on that flight since so many come from Texas and other cities such as Austin probably connect in Dallas.

On switching the ticket dates, I know we were able to already get online on American and change my son's seat to a window seat so I would think you could get on using the record locator that is printed on the email AFA mailed you. It said in the letter that if you wanted to make changes, you could, but you would have to pay any change charges from the airlines so I think you can change the dates.

For the bed and breakfast program go to the USAFA website. Select the Alumni/AOG tab on the left. Then click the link in the middle of the next page. Select for Parents on the upper left side. Select In-Processing on the left. You can then read about what it says. It has a link in the middle of the page that is for the Bed and Breakfast Program that AOG sponsors.

Note: I called earlier last month and ask why the link was not working and they said it was not time yet. Was going to call today but all AFA and base are closed due to the blizzard.

There have been many positive posts of cadets who used this service. Our son is a very people person, and I think he would like this better than staying in a hotel by himself especially if the host was a prior cadet, AFA instructor, or AF.

coming alone?

Does anyone know what percentage of cadets come alone versus having a parent(s) see them off on I day? I just wondered .

AOG website says they estimate 50% of the appointees are brought by their parents.

From what I've seen so far, most people will probably connect in Dallas. I read a post a while back that last year, a flight from DFW to COS had 3 people or so that WEREN'T appointees.

I'll be flying from Raleigh-Durham to DFW then to COS. my flight from DFW leaves at 1255P according to my receipt from usafa, and I'm curious to see if anyone else will be on that flight

My son received his tickets yesterday. He's connecting through Altanta, Delta flight 1591. Anyone else on that flight?

Received mine two days ago, from Seattle to Denver to Springs.
